London: Robert Hale, 1978. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Super copy of this third volume in the adventures of Dirshan. One of the few Hale examples of this title which was not sent to the libraries. Black-coloured boards with silver titles at the backstrip. Description:
Hangö, Finand: Hango?-bladets tryckeri, 1930. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Very Good. An extremely rare pamphlet published in Finland by the Swedish-speaking supporters of Finland's fascist/pro-Germany political organisation, The Lapua Movement. The Swedish title translates into English as, "The Lapua movement, its origin and development, its aims and possibilities: Finland's Swedish population and the Lapua movement". Stapled wrappers, pp. 23. The Lapua Movement was a brutal anti-communist organisation which sought to elevate the "White" principles of the earlier civil war, including, Anti-communism. Lutheranism, and Finnish nationalism. Initially it attracted sympathetic support from prominent members of the establishment but its increasingly violent activities - not least the kidnapping and murder of Social Democrat politician Onni Happonen - could not sustain this and the movement was ultimately outlawed after a failed coup-d'etat attempt in 1932.… Read More

Description:
Finland: United Artists, 1953. 1st Edition . No Binding. Fine. A fabulous-condition Finnish A2 cinema poster for the 1953 movie, VICE SQUAD starring Edward G. Robinson & Paulette Godard. The movie is also known as The Girl from Room 17 and it is this less "salacious" title which is referred to in the poster. The actual Finnish title translates as "Flying Squad". The film was first screened in cinemas in Finland in 1953 with no subsequent theatrical screenings. This poster is not a modern reproduction and nor is it Video/DVD-related. Standard size 23.5" x slightly under 16" approx. It is in fantastic condition - unfolded and with no chips or tears to the edges - one or two small handling creases. At the top - in the brim of the hat - there is a puncture or split to the paper although there is not actual loss. There are no pinholes - it may be an unused poster. Really Fine condition - would be Mint if not for the puncture, difficult though it may be to grade a 70… Read More

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1986. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. What would be a very attractive F/F copy has been marred somewhat by a previous owner who has removed his/her name from the top corner of the front endpaper - with a pair of scissors! Description:
London: Pan Books, 1984. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Very Good. First thus, a proof or "Special Edition" of the first UK paperback published a year after the hardcover. Precedes the trade paperback, one of 739 numbered copies bound in white embossed, glossy wrappers and signed in red pencil by Le carre on the front wrapper, this copy being number 631. Publisher slip with this info loosely inserted. I believe the books were originally distributed wrapped in some kind of waxed paper which in this case is no longer present. An oddity altogether, the signature is somewhat faded. The block is uniformly tanned, some bumps to the wrappers in a couple of places but square and very tight - does not appear to have been read with no creasing to the spine. A reasonable copy, VG, and of course, quite scarce but the signature is disappointing and it's hard to understand why Pan had the author sign the book in this way.
