Publisher's green cloth with spine and upper board lettering gilt and a clever, attractive Maine lighthouse vignette, also in gilt, quarto, pp. 121. Illustrated throughout. Green cloth covers have a few patches of mottling along edges, otherwise Very Good and sound and SIGNED by Emma MacDonald on the free front endpaper. Dust jacket is a bit weary from its pre-mylar life, with rubs, nicks, and short tears at spine ends, fold points, and along perimeter. Jacket now protected against further wear by a new sheet of Brodart.

Sewn binding; cloth over boards.

Publisher's tan cloth with brown spine lettering, octavo, pp. xiv, 152. Black and white illustrations. Very Good condition. Illustrated dust jacket GOOD condition, with nicks at crown of spine and rubbing at upper flap fold points. Previous owner has also placed a small piece of tape inside the jacket behind a short tear at top edge of front panel.

FAIR-only in publisher's substantially mottled green cloth, 12mo, pp. 96 plus [1] page ads. Frontis portrait of a single-armed black man with cigarette. Occasional derogatory & caricatural black language, similar to Uncle Remus tales. Old discoloration of endpapers only. See WORK, p. 403.

Publisher's olive cloth with black lettering within blind-ruled border, 12mo, pp. 96 plus [1] page ads. Arresting frontis of a single-armed black man with cigarette, seemingly hand-rolled. Occasional derogatory & caricatural black language, somewhat reminiscent of Uncle Remus. Old Christmas gift inscription on toned free front end-paper. Light rubs at board tips & spine ends & mild bump to upper board tip. Area of light discoloration on upper panel. GOOD and sound. See WORK, page 403.

Edition limited to 700 copies of which this is number 16, quarto, pp. 84. Illustrated throughout with tipped-in color portraits and black and white photographs. Warm gift inscription from the author to a physician on the free front endpaper. Very Good in the publisher's dark red cloth with lightly faded gilt upper board and spine lettering. Mack was commissioned in 1921 by the City of Atlanta to restore the famous Battle of Atlanta mural at the Cyclorama.

Publisher's blue cloth with a wood-block device in gilt, designed for the author by Gordon Craig, on the upper panel, octavo, pp. xv, 182, + "Four Comments." Full-page frontis portrait of the author and three other illustrations, as called for. Marion Morse MACKAYE died in France in 1939. Her widower, Percy, inscribed this book on the free front endpaper to a Massachusetts resident in 1943. Condition is FAIR-only. Book is cocked from being stored at a leaning angle on a book shelf. Cloth is soiled at spine ends. Spine lettering faded. Rear hinge beginning to show signs of tenderness. Internally clean and unmarked. There is no dust jacket.

First U. K. edition limited to 500 copies, octavo, pp. 24. This copy from the personal collection of G. S. Terence Cavanagh (1923-2005), late Professor Emeritus of Medical Literature at Duke University, author, & antiquarian bookseller, with his tasteful bookplate on the front pastedown. An index card with Archibald MacLeish's signature beneath a "Faithfully yours" inscription is laid in. A mild bump to bottom front board tip. Shallow vertical crease on Title Page. Price-clipped dust jacket a little weary with shelf and handling wear, but ensconced now in a sheet of protective mylar.

Publisher's blue string-tied wrappers, 16mo (6 x 4 1/2 inches), serial pagination 393 - 418 + [1] + Table of Contents for the Bibelot 1906 year + 6 leaves of ads (last two are unopened). This number featuring three selections by Fiona MACLEOD, the female pseudonym of William SHARP (1855-1905). Sharp, in an 1892 Pagan Review, "argued against discriminating between men and women, in language suggestive of the fraying of the boundaries of sex themselves. Sharp himself was shortly to attempt to prove the presence of a woman within" by the development of the MACLEOD persona (see Oxford Dictionary of National Biography entry by Murray G. H. PITTOCK, s.v. SHARP). Consequently, Sharp can perhaps be regarded as an early literary proponent of then-rudimentary gender fluid theory. Publisher's tan cloth with spine lettering gilt, small octavo, pp. 190. Upper board fore-edge protrudes just slightly farther than lower board fore-edge, as in a mild overbite. Dust jacket with light chipping at spine ends and flap fold tips. Rear panel shows some light shelf soiling more obviously than if publisher had chosen a darker color than white. Jacket ensconced now in protective Brodart.

Publisher's tan cloth with matching spine lettering on a black background, quarto, pp. xxii, 186 plus colophon. Frontispiece and other illustrations. Foreword by James J. Waring. Preface by William J. Kerr. Some foxing first few leaves. Previous owner, a deceased physician from Georgia, applied a coat of shellac to the exterior of the book, giving it a bit of a shiny appearance. That same physician's tasteful book plate and date (April 1956) on front paste down. About Very Good with no jacket.

Hardcover. Reprinted in facsimile from the edition of 1815. Black quarter-leather binding; hubbed spine; all page edges gilt; moire endpapers; permanent silk ribbon page marker. A fine copy.

Hardcover, octavo, pp. 128. Previous owner gift inscription on front endpaper. Front hinge starting but holding firm. Bottom front board tip rubbed through and a bit frayed. Old red dot on bottom edge near spine. Withal, about GOOD and sound but best thought of as a Reading copy.

GOOD condition with light shelf rubs at spine ends and board tips and a slight lean (upper board fore-edge protrudes slightly farther than lower board fore-edge, as in an overbite). Previous owner also fashioned a homemade clear protective mylar-type "jacket" that can be removed easily, if so desired.
