Very Good. 12 Mo (4.5 x 3), pp. 175 plus two fold-out plates and index, complete. A beautiful, beautifully preserved copy of the first or possibly second state edition of a very rare and important book, a pioneering study of saliva, salivary and tear ducts. An earlier and better copy than can be found in most major American or European medical libraries. Anton Nuck (1650-1692) was a Dutch anatomist and dentist who pioneered the use of injected dyes as well as forceps, and was the first to describe numerous anatomical phenomena, including Nuck's Canal.

A famous anatomist during his lifetime, Camper did much work on the measurement of cranial and facial bones. Several anatomical structures still bear his name, and he is also famous as the anatomist who discovered the air spaces in the bones of birds.

Beautiful copy of a scarce and important book on conditions of the heart and major blood vessels. Corvisart is said to have been the first to describe heart symptoms comprehensively and accurately, the first to differentiate clearly between heart and pulmonary ailments, and the first to explain the mechanisms involved in heart failure. Corvisart (1755-1821) was personal physician to Napoleon and enjoyed a close and loyal relationship with him. This is a classic early work in the field of cardiology, and this edition is scarce in the U.S.
