Slender volume of poems by the Scottish poet George MacBeth (1932-1992), number 63 of 74 numbered copies from a total edition of 100 copies.
There are three poems here: The Wolves, The Pain, and The Hector Syndrome.

CONDITION: Some light dusting to the white wrappers, light vertical crease to the first few pages. Very Good or better.

New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1912. Later printing. SIGNED by Maurice Maeterlinck on the title page. Ten essays reflecting the Belgian writer's interest in mysticism and symbolism, with chapters on silence, morality, women, inner beauty, etc. Introduction by A.B. Walkley, translated by Alfred Sutro. This edition in English was published in 1912, one year after Maeterlinck (1862-1949) won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Actor Jack Palance previously owned this copy; his bookplate from the 2006 sale of his collection is attached to the front free end paper. PHYSICAL DETAILS: Small Octavo (7 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches; 195 x 130 mm), pp. xviii, 224, [2], in publisher's original decorated green cloth, titles in gilt to front board and to spine, top edge gilt (hard cover).CONDITION: Rubbing to cloth extremities, small tears and ink stains to a couple of pages, not affecting any text, two leaves partially unopened, top edge a bit dusty. Very Good or better. Overall, an attractive copy signed by Maeterlinck.

Decorated green cloth with gilt titles to the front cover and spine. Top edge a bit dusty. Tasteful bookplate on the front paste down and a small bookseller's label on the rear paste down. Bright dust jacket has a couple of chips to the top panel and crown of spine. Flap edges slightly cut. Price of $2.50 on the jacket spine. SCARCE in dust jacket.  This book is not often seen in such a nice dust jacket.

Nicely illustrated catalogue of an exhibition at the Musée Mallarmé from November 18, 2000, to March 4, 2001. Symbolist poet Stephane Mallarmé championed many artists in his lifetime, including the two Post-Impressionists here, Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard. Text entirely in French. Scarce in commerce. SIGNED and stamped by David Mamet with his blue Chicago stamp on the title page (page 23). The Playbill for Mamet's comedy about the Hollywood movie industry, which opened at the Royale Theatre in New York and starred Madonna, Ron Silver, and Joe Mantegna. The play was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play and Silver's performance won him a Tony Award for Best Actor.
Playbills signed by David Mamet are not at all common and signed copies of the Playbill for "Speed-the-Plow" are especially elusive. SCARCE SIGNED.
CONDITION: Near Fine, with some creasing to the front cover.

INSCRIBED by David Mamet on the title page. A review copy with publisher's letter laid in. David Mamet's novel based on a true event: the 1914 trial and lynching of a Jewish factory owner who was wrongfully accused of the rape and murder of a Southern girl. Mamet explores the interior world of the factory owner and invokes the haunting fear of anyone who could be wrongfully accused and victimized by the legal system. CONDITION: Fine in a Near Fine dust jacket that has a bit of scuffing to the lower panel.

SIGNED and stamped by David Mamet with his blue Chicago stamp on the title page (page 23). Mamet's play about a college professor whose chance for tenure is ruined by a student's charge of sexual harassment.
This Playbill was for the October 1992 production at the Orpheum Theatre in Manhattan starring William H. Macy and Rebecca Pidgeon (Mamet's wife). The play had premiered in May 1992 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at Mamet's new Back Bay Theater Company.
Playbills signed by Mamet are uncommon in the market. SCARCE.

Thin line of blue to very top edge of first few pages; appears to be a marking transferred from the cover. Aside from this small marking, the interior is pristine with bright text. Inside front cover advertises The Sea Horse and The Au Pair Man. Rear cover advertises The Gingerbread Lady and The Sunshine Boys. A Very Good copy.
