Description:
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1987. Near fine (very slight soil on top page edges, otherwise fine) in very good dust jacket (fairly large stain near spine and also inside the dust jacket where it is more obvious; edgewear along top of dust jacket; now in clear plastic protector). Really quite a nice looking book except for that one stain. Narsai's was located in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 70s and 80s. On Monday nights, they featured a prix fixe menu, and this book grew out of that popular experience. This is the third printing. 381 pages including index. Organized geographically--Africa, Armenia, Assyria, Australia, and so forth. Foreword by Jacques Pepin.. Hard Cover.

Description:
New York: Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1970. Near fine (pale smudge on black front cover) in very good dust jacket (light edgewear and soiling, 1 closed tear which is barely visible in the upper right corner, see scan; now protected by clear archival cover). Study by nine historians. Written after the beginning of the great Civil Rights Movement, it is urgently relevant to today's America. As one of the book jacket's blurbs states: "The more that can be understood of the historical background to the present ferment over racial injustice, the more hope there is for a reasonable solution for American society." Today's search for REASONABLE VOICES makes this book more relevant than ever. See scan of back of dust jacket for contents.. 1st Edition. Hard Cover.

Description:
Kent, Washington: Valley Publishing Co, 1980. A nice addition to a collection of memorabilia from the 1980 explosion of Mt. St. Helens in Washington. This is a 16 page special issue, illustrated with color and black-and-white photos, published soon after the explosion but long enough to know the cost in lives and property. Very good shape considering the medium (newsprint), with wear at the folds and browning of the paper. It has been folded into quarters, and the worst wear is at the center where those folds cross.. Description:
Berkeley: University of Calif Press, 1952. Very good (near fine except for a few tiny foxing spots on page edges, interior fine) in near fine (price-clipped, otherwise fine) dust jacket. Nisbet was a notable Dickens scholar, and this book grew out of her work on another book about Dickens during which she uncovered documents which led her to reevaluate Dickens' relationship with this young actress. 89 pages with a foreword by Edmund Wilson. Something of the tone of the writing--fact-based rather than sensationalist--is indicated by the title of the first and last sections: "Household Saint' and "Decanonization"!. 1st Edition. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1948. Very good (edgewear at top of spine) without dust jacket except for two clippings from the original jacket laid in (see scans). A valuable addition to the library of readers interested in Henry James. Nowell-Smith long studied James and collected material useful to understanding his long, productive life. Thus, he assumes here the role of "compiler" but has contributed significantly to information about this controversial writer. Not a complete biography but a compilation--to use Nowell-Smith's word--of information drawn from letters, reports, excerpts from books and articles. A five-page bibliography lists the sources he has drawn from. 176 pages.. 1st American edition. Hard Cover. Illus. by Illustrations from paintings and a photograph.
