Small printed vignettes and ink sketches throughout. 12mo, [52]ff; thin leather with blind pictorial design on upper cover, gilt-titled on front cover and spine (edges rubbed). A word-game book with 25 pages of questions and blank openings seen through openings from the next page below. Once filled in, the following page has a narrative where the added words create unique stories and nonsense. An unusual amusement with words where in this example, everything has already been filled in so one can enjoy the generated story-lines.

Mei Lan-Fang was invited by America in the winter of 1929, to help the people better understand Chinese Opera, the master of Chinese songs Liu Tianhua produced two volumes of books, one in Chinese (126pp.) and the other in English (118pp.), which includes 18 Kunqu Opera with music script and score. Manuscript Ledger (Master Inventory): General Record of Stage Props for a traveling Chinese theatrical repertory company introducing Revolutionary Opera into its program including costs for creating silk stage props, sets, costumes and scenery, with various paper slip receipts (some loose) dated from 1963 to 1969. Oblong album measuring 7-3/4 x 10-5/8 inches, contents with 20 numbered leaves of double-sided ruled ledger; bound in brown cloth-backed plain light blue paper board with lettered pink paper label, decorative pattern endpapers, originally with ribbon-tied spine (now lost, contents loose).
Includes entries for the revolutionary opera Taking Tiger Mountain (1968), with one entry bearing signature of Wang Xiu Wen dated 12 September 1967. Includes a pink silk armband laid into the album inscribed "Mei Ying Shan" which could be translated as Huaying Mountain.

First published 1954 as a selection of nursery rhymes known during the reign of George III, Mrs Opie took her texts from an 1805 chapbook Original Ditties for the Nursery published by John Harris which documents the appearance of 'Tweedledum and Tweedledee' later used by Lewis Carroll, 'A farmer went trotting upon his grey mare' selected as a picture-book subject by Randolph Caldecott, 'Little Jenny Flinders' and 35 other rhymes for children.
