The Temple of Hullabeed (also spelt Halebid and Halebidu) is a complex made up of the Hoysaleshawara and Kedareshwara temples and two Jain basadi. Located in Karnataka it was the 12th-century capital of the Hoysalas.Richard Banner Oakeley is famous for his photographs of the Holysaleswara Temple, a magnificent example of Hindu architecture and sculpture begun during the first half of the 12th century.

An exceptionally well preserved example. Oates was one of the first Europeans to see the Victoria Falls in full flood, having travelled to Natal in 1873, and made his way overland to the Zambesi. I: spine just a touch rolled but a lovely copy in the lightly frayed dust jacket with a couple of pieces of internal support; the other two titles are gorgeous in the dust jackets. O'Brien's first three novels form a trilogy and a testimony to life for women in southern Ireland in the middle of the twentieth century. It established its author as the major novelist she continued to be for the five decades - and counting! Sets in this condition are not common.

Large folio, 21 engraved plates, scattered marginal spotting, 6 being hand-coloured, grey wrappers, paper label on upper cover, housed in modern black cloth foldover box wiith gilt lettered spine. These reports were published after a petition from the City for the much needed improvement of the London docks. A committee was then appointed in 1796 and various schemes were proposed. The first report was published in 1796, and second in 1799 and finally this one in 1800.The engravings when opened out extend from 42 inches to as much as 73 inches, for example the plan for Mr Wilson's proposed Cast iron bridge. There are also various impressive designs for bridges and dock-side developments by Telford and Douglas (4 plans), also by Ralph Dodd (6 plans) and George Dance (7 plans) amongst others, all celebrated architects and engineers of the day. A lovely copy of this finely produced edition of Shakespeare's songs, showcasing the attention to typography and binding that the Officina Bodoni exemplified. Mardersteig 185.

First edition, 8vo., 286, [2 (blank)]pp., publisher's advertisement and postcard loosely inserted, publisher's red cloth, spine lettered directly in gilt, colour-printed dust-jacket, top-edge a little dust-stained, very slight nicks to head-cap of dust-jacket, minimal discolouration at joints, otherwise a fine copy. Stemming from O'Flaherty's own political-activist experiences, this novel is an investigation of the mind and motives of a political murderer. A year following the publication Arthur Robinson directed the first eponymous film version, followed by another in 1935, directed by John Ford, a cousin of the author's.

A typically visually striking jacket by Lee-Elliott, hinting darkly at the novel's play on a conflict between a perceived Christian fanaticism and the the growing "plague" of Communism. There are some newspaper clippings relating to the author loosely inserted.

Oliphant had been acting as a correspondent for The Times during this campaign. He had accompanied Lord Stratford to the Crimea from Constantinople. Oliphant had a glimpse of the siege of Sebastopol, afterwards joining the force under Omar Pasha. He was present at the battle of the Ingour. The fall of Kars then made the expedition fruitless, and after much suffering during the retreat, he returned to England.
