Description:
Boston, Massachusetts. Charles T. Branford Company. 1955. Large Octavo (8 ½ x 6 ½). 522 pp. including index. Thirty-Two color plates show-casing the pinnacle of nineteenth century American fly tying and fancy flies. Black and white plates. The color plates in this edition are vastly superior to those in the later 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s reprints - in this 1955 edition the color plates were printed using six colors and they sparkle with clarity and brilliant coloration. The book is bound in green cloth with gilt titles. Pictorial dust jacket. Also with the original glassine dust jacket over the printed pictorial jacket - the book was published with it and this example is one of only a few times Ive seen it. With the distinctive book plate of angling collector William C. Siebert on the front paste-down. A nice book. Near fine in a near fine printed jacket and very good glassine jacket with some edge wear..
