Description:
Brockton, Massachusetts: M. A. Packard Co, 1912. Staplebound. Very good. Octavo, unpaginated (16pp.), illustrated. A very good copy in the publisher's illustrated stapled wraps. SOme soiling to front wrap and scuffing to the rear wrap, else clean and bright. Scarce trade catalogue for this Edwardian-era shoe manufacturer. Each men's shoe offered has a detailed engraved drawing, and some of these are in color. There are some delightful color illustrations of scenes, such as "digging the Panama canal" and "shuffleboard on deck," indicating that these shoes can stand up to some wear and tear. OCLC records a few scattered holdings of similar catalogues, but none of this particular issue. The closest is a 1910 catalogue, held at the Watson Library at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Scarce.

Description:
New York: Steinway and Sons, 1923. String-bound. Near fine. Large octavo, unpaginated [6pp.]. Near fine in the publisher's illustrated string-bound cardstock wrappers, with only trivial edgewear. A nicely printed endorsement of Steinway pianos by one of the great concert pianists of his era. The main text consists of a facsimile reproduction of Paderewski's manuscript essay endorsing Steinway pianos--in English--with a printed transcript below (for legibility's sake). Curiously, OCLC records eight copies of this ephemeral document in worldwide libraries, each under a different accession number, and most with different publication dates--as early as 1914, and as late as 1930. The endorsement itself is dated 1914. On the verso of the rear wrapper is printed the name and address of the Dreher Piano Co. on Huron Rd. in Cleveland. A great piece of early 20th century piano ephemera, steeped in Arts and Crafts aesthetic design.

Description:
London: T. Cope, 1817. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good +. Octavo, 279pp. No earlier edition found in auction records or OCLC, thus presumably the first edition. A very good or better unrestored copy in contemporary full brown calf, with marbled endpapers and black morocco spine label. Mild scuffing and rubbing to extremities, with some loss to gilt on spine label, else a very nice example; bright clean and sound internally. A seemingly quite rare book, which gives precise details about the various plants cultivated at the Southampton Botanic Gardens. We could not trace this book at auction, and locate just five holdings in worldwide libraries, according to OCLC (NY Botanical Gardens, Acad of Nat Sci - Phil, Harvarrd (2cc), and U. of Southampton). A rare volume of British gardening history, in appealing original condition.

Overall, very good, with a bit of corner wear, and some foxing to the opening pages. A scarce title and imprint, not found in any recent auction records. Description:
Milledgeville, GA: Boughton, Nisbet & Barnes, State Printers, 1860. First Edition. Sewn binding. Very good. Octavo, 16pp. A defense of slavery by a native of South Carolina and graduate of University of Georgia. Palmer, during the furor of Secession, preaches: "The true foes of the black race are those who have intermeddled on their behalf. We know better than others that every attribute of their character fits them for dependence and servitude." Small hole in front cover as a result of an erasure , foxing otherwise a very good copy in original printed wraps. Enclosed in a custom cloth case with silk tie. Rare; not in Howes or Sabin. Per auction records, there are three known printings: Milledgeville, GA; New Orleans, and New York. All are supremely uncommon; the only one we traced at auction is the New York imprint, from 1861, and that copy sold in 1966. .

Description:
Chicago: Jefferson, 1886. First Edition (?). Softcover. Very good-. Octavo, [iv], 71, [9]. Illustrated with two folding plates. About very good in the publisher's printed wraps. Front wrap with a long tear at the spine joint, and a few clear tape repairs. The large panorama plate has a short tear and a few unnecessary clear tape reinforcements to the verso, but is clean. The other folding plate appears unopened. Contents clean apart from a few stray pencil markings. An innovative and stylized portrayal of a battle scene, in the spirit of the popular cycloramas of the time (such as those which depict the battles of Gettysburg and Atlanta). This pamphlet seems to have been issued by two publishers; one in Chicago and the other in Cleveland; we are unsure of any priority. Broadfoot noted only a 1914 reprint, which he did not describe as a reprint. Scarce.

Description:
Boston: Bulfinch Press / Little, Brown and Company, 1994. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/very good. Oblong quarto, 128pp., illustrated. A very good copy in the publisher's light brown cloth. Large, but not disfiguring stain to the rear board, also affecting the top margin of the last few pages, as well as the dust jacket. SIGNED and intimately INSCRIBED by Parks on the half-title page: "For Janet - with good wishes and fond memories. G." Parks has also signed his full name in a different pen below the inscription. We have not been able to identify Janet, but presume her to be someone close to the photographer. This volume is a departure from Parks' typical work; pairing fragmentary objects against watercolors, and presented with his own poetry. Scarce signed.
