London: Batsford First two of the Quennel's three books for older school children on ancient Greece. Orange covers with black lettering, decoration and illustrations to front boards and spines. Both volumes are first editions. "Homeric" : 140pp inc index, with b/w illustrations and colour frontis of swineherd's house. Covers have light wear, a couple of small marks and a 1.5 split to lower rear joint. Foxing to dusty page edges and neat previous owner's name and address on ffep. But text bloc clean and tight. "Archic" : 146pp inc index, with b/w illustrations and colour frontis of warrior's departure. Covers have light wear and bumping to extremities, a couple of small marks and a few tiny splits at head and foot of spine. Foxing to dusty page edges and prelims and neat previous owner's name and address on ffep. But text bloc clean and tight. Overall a good pair. Ref082633. First Edition. Cloth. G++/N/a. 15cmx23cm.
