[New York: Macfadden Publications, Inc., 1949]., 1949. First edition. First edition. 8vo. 8 1/4" x 5 1/4" printed wrappers, [4], 24 [7] pp., foreword. A true crime story from the files of the Pinkerton Detective Agency that took place in New York City. A phantom burglar was robbing the Center buildings on Fifth Avenue of securities, diamonds, jewelry, etc. and the office doors were all locked. Despite all types of security precautions, including the presence of Pinkerton and police standing guard, the robberies continued, all offices remained locked, and the robber escaped each undetected. The case was puzzling and made even more-so because the robber "may be one of the 1,700 employees, one of the 35,000 office workers in the various buildings, or one of the 128,000 daily visitors." Who was the robber, how was he making entry into the businesses, and how was he escaping? Moderate wear to the spine and extremities, internally clean, overall a good copy.

Little-known and interesting history of America’s earliest military aviation efforts in Texas’s Big Bend region and from a remote airfield in the rugged reaches of the southwestern Texas borderlands. "Against a backdrop of revolution, border banditry, freewheeling aerial dramatics, and World War II comes this compelling look at the rise of U.S. combat aviation at an unlikely proving ground ... a remote airfield in the rugged reaches of the southwestern Texas borderlands. Here, at Elmo Johnson's Big Bend ranch, hundreds of young Army Air Corps pilots demonstrated the U.S. military's reconnaissance and emergency response capabilities and, in so doing, dramatized the changing role of the airplane as an… Read More

London: Constable, [2009]., 2009. First edition. First edition. Signed by the author. Fine in fine dust jacket. It promised to be the perfect vacation with every modern convenience: exotic terraced gardens complete with an English folly, thirty-eight varieties of ice cream, and plenty of cocktails. Antonia Darcy and Hugh Payne never seriously imagined they would encounter anything worse than extravagance in this idyllic setting. But an uninvited guest at the garden party given in their honor makes Antonia his confidante. Not only does he claim to have witnessed the strangling of beautiful, wayward Marigold Leighton, he also insists it was their host Roman Songhera, the uncrowned king of Goa, who had committed the murder.
