A nice professional photograph of what looks to be the commencement of Pioneer Transfer in 1913, showing three gentlemen, two horses and their running gear looking buffed, shiny and new. Paste on caption at lower edge reads "Pioneer Transfer 1913 / This team was sold from the Hillcrest Ranch." A 5 x 7 inch wide photograph mounted onto a heavy photographer's beveled edge mount, measuring 8.5 x 10.5 inches wide, with photographer's credit "JNO. Scales / Kamloops, B.C." blind stamped at lower right. Photo w. a few light rubs and a tiny stain, mount w. small water stains to edge and toning noticiable along beveled edges, paste on caption w. a crease at upper right. The leather harness on the horse's flank shows "Pioneer Transfer" advertised in horizontal metalwork.

Illustrated saddle stapled wraps, 4to (11-5/16 inches [28.8 cm] tall), pp. 66, filled with stories and illustrated throughout. Volume is toned with a vertical fold, both corners of front cover missing with bottom chip also taking the bottom corner of the first four leaves, slightly rolled with some scattered soil and creasing. Wherein Schmeling correctly predicts the outcome of the June 18th, 1936 fight between Joe Louis and himself - resulting in Louis' only knockout defeat during his prime, just 5 days after the publication of this issue. With cover art by Sam Brown showing a fighter resting between rounds in his corner of the ring while looking on with disbelief at an autograph-seeking fan.

Eleonore Schmid has been honored for her artwork by the Society of Illustrators.

Madison County, IL: Madison County Superintendent, 1869. Certificate. Very Good. Teaching certificate (5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches wide), executed in letterpress and manuscript on both recto and verso, for H.E. Mills and signed by the Superintendent J.N. Van Clive, giving the graded results of his Oct. 2nd, 1869 examination on verso. Certificate is toned with two fold lines, a single 1/4 inch closed fold line tear to one edge, light wear and some fading to ink. An early and uncommon Second Grade Teacher's Certificate, issued in Madison County, Illinois just shortly after the "Golden Spike" was driven to mark the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory Summit in Utah Territory.

Contains the articles "Scientific Work in Unsettled China" by Roy Chapman Andrews - who led an exciting life and is said to have served as the inspiration for the Hollywood character Indiana Jones (ref. Roy Chapman Andrews Society) and, "Brittany Four Thousand Years Ago" by Henry Fairfield Osborn, an American geologist and paleontologist who served as the President of The American Museum of Natural History for 25 years. Side stapled printed wraps, 8vo (9-13/16 inches tall), pp. [193], 196-288, illustrated with maps, line drawings and B&W photo reproductions. Volume with spine mostly perished, thin tone lines to outer edges of front cover, else clean and unmarked. A single issue with additional articles including 'Hunting with a Camera', 'The Wood Bison of Canada', 'The Agriculture Museum', etc.

Volume with toning, creases and wear to covers, a two inch closed tear at top of front cover, text is toned but remains unmarked. Lessons 2 through 20 have very faint horizontal fold lines from being mailed [assume] out in parts as part of the 20 lesson series. Included is an 8 x 6-3/16 inch folded pamphlet which has a few small spots of finger soil. With Scott's "Specialties" pamphlet "Christmas Dinner Suggestions for December 25, 1926 , by Anna Lee Scott ..." [not found in Driver bib.] loosely laid in. Ref. Driver O526.2.

Printed pictorial map, 14-7/8 inches tall x 19-3/4 inches wide (printed border 13-1/16 inches x 18-5/16 inches), scale is 3" to 800 ', shows muster stations, entrances, train stations, various palace buildings, troop locations, HQ and both Royal Enclosures. This 99 year old survivor has the original fold lines with some toning, light soil and a few tiny fold line tears. Now flattened and in archival Mylar, ships rolled. The Scout Rally at Alexandra Palace - attended by 40,000 boy scouts and 20,000 cub scouts, was organized to welcome the Prince of Wales home from his World Tour in 1922.

An 8.5 x 11 inch albumen silver salts photograph, pasted onto the original 10 x 14 inch stiff card album leaf, capturing here a circa 1880s entrance view of the Sri Lankan landmark Galle Face Hotel. The Galle Face Hotel - known locally as "The Grand Dame of Colombo" was built in 1864 while Sri Lanka was still known as Ceylon and under British colonial rule. The hotel is still in operation today. The photo is signed "SCOWEN" in negative at the lower left corner. Photo w. minor rubbing and fading to edges ; card mount with some modest waving and toning near edges, verso is blank. An early Scowen photograph of the famous Galle Face Hotel, showing the rich tonality Scowen is known for and with the hotel's name clearly visible in three places. Uncommon to market. "Empire Day was celebrated on 24 May (Queen Victoria's birthday) from its inception in 1905, to promote patriotism in the British Empire, amongst school children in particular. Colorful offset lithograph poster announcing the coming of The Museum Train and it's exhibit - Steampower and British Columbia : 1830's - 1950's. Poster measures 18.75 x 12 inches wide, with a touch of toning and mild horizontal creases. * n.b. Price is per poster. At time of listing, we have three copies of this poster available in two different states. The difference being that the 2nd state has various cities, towns, and dates printed along the bottom edge and the 1st state does not. We have provided an image showing both states of the poster, so let us know if you have a preference as to which one of the two states to send.
