Woodcut book by Seitei (Shotei) Watanabe (1851-1918). Watanabe Seitei was one of the first Japanese artists who settled in Europe (Paris) for a period. He has had a big influence on the so-called French Japonism (e.g. Henri Riviere), the Art Nouveau and the Jugendstil. Bijutsu Sekai was an art magazine, which was first published in 1890. Seitei also edited the magazine.
The book has 24 pages with coloured woodcuts by Seitei (6 images on a single page and 9 on a double page), 11 pages with text and a title page. The cover is beautifully decorated. It has images of birds, flowers and plants.
