The is lightly bumped at the spine ends and corners, and has an erasure and small abrasion on the front endpaper. The moderately soiled, unclipped dust jacket has two 3/4" tears on the rear panel, is chipped at and near the corners and spine crown, and severely so on the spine base wiping out most of the publisher's name. The jacket is sleeved in mylar.

Laid in is a clipped piece of paper, SIGNED by Booth Tarkington. The volume is edge rubbed, bumped at the spine ends and corners, has some soiling to front panel, an ink name on the front endpaper, and a picture of Booth Tarkington pasted to the front pastedown. Comes with a fine, mylar sleeved, facsimile dust jacket. Winner of the 1922 Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

The volume has light ed wear, is bumped on the spine ends, and the text leaves are gently toned. The unclipped dust jacket, priced on the spine, has a mildly sunned spine, is edge rubbed with shallow chips and short closed tears (longest is 1/4"), but there is uneven deeper chipping on the spine crown and rear joint affecting a letter in each of the two title words.

Cloth spine a bit toned and rubbed; light rubbing, soiling to boards. Minor occasional thumbsoiling in text. The sleeved dust jacket is clipped on all corners (price of $1.25 is present), has a lightly toned spine, some toning and soiling to the facing panels; a few tears (two lengthy ones on the base of the rear panel) and corresponding tape reinforcement on the verso.

The volume has some darkened areas on the spine. The slipcase (good- condition) is chipped on the edges, splitting on the crown and tail, and is peeling on the top edge. Lacks the glassine.

The edge rubbed,unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is nicked at the corners, chipped on the spine crown and has three short (1/4" of less) closed tears.
