Frontispiece illustration. Previous owner's name 'Mary Enderby' to title page and preliminary page. Near Good condition, with rubbed / worn spine which is cracking at the edges, bumped corners and foxing to the prelims.Written by poet and novelist Jane Taylor whose best known work is the words to the song 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'. Display has been noted as being reminiscent of Maria Edgeworth's work and was so popular that it went through thirteen editions from its initial publication in 1814 until 1832.Mary Enderby was the wife of Samuel Enderby Jnr. (1756-1829), who was the son of Samuel Enderby (1720-1797), founder of the whaling and sealing firm of Samuel Enderby & Sons. During the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, Enderby vessels made profitable voyages to both northern and southern waters. On her husband's death in 1829, the firm was inherited by their three sons, Charles, Henry and George.

Original Edward Lear drawing in pen with black and grey ink and grey wash, numbered '43' to upper left and titled in pen with black ink to the lower sheet "And one, an English Home, - gray twilight pour'd / On dewy pastures, dewy trees / Softer than sleep:- all things in order stored / A haunt of ancient peace. (The Palace of Art.) / Hampshire, England". The house is the only English scene chosen by Lear in 'The Palace of Art' series was Lord Northbrook's Stratton House. Undated (1871). Overall size 13" x 11" (Mount aperture Size 8" x 5 1/2"). Very Good condition. Framed and glazed. (Not removed from the frame). Pencil note from previous owner to the reverse stating provenance was the Tennyson Trust. As featured in Ruth Pitman's "Edward Lear's Tennyson" Pg 81-86.

Illustrated covers including Paddington Town Hall (now demolished), portraits of Mr Gladstone, Lord Rosebery, Sir G.O Trevelyan, Sir W.V Harcourt, Sir C. Russell and Mr J. Morley to the front and Map of North Paddington with Polling Stations to the rear cover. Very Good condition, with some splitting to head/tail of spine. A scarce survival.

UK 1st Edition / 1st Printing, 2003 with complete numberline 1-10 to copyright page. Illustrated. Handsigned to the title page "To Claire best wishes Terry Jones" with additional signature of Alan Fletcher in different hand beneath. Small marks to the facing page where the ink has blotted. Very Good condition, with no other inscriptions, in original Very Good dustwrapper which is not price-clipped (Published price £20.00).

Limited edition hardcover in slipcase. Number 234 in Booklovers' limited edition of 500 with hand-marbled endpapers by Jemma Marbling of Melksham. Handsigned by the poet to the title page in black ink (no other inscriptions). A most attractive production, with 73 pages of poems, followed by unpaginated text section with colour illustrations.

Very Good, complete album of cards. Complete album with 16 colour cards of planes + insignia. Name to rear cover. Scarce complete album of colour cards issued with the 'Modern Boy' story paper in c1930.

267pp + 1pp advertisements to rear. Inscribed by the author to the half-title in the year of publication; "To William H Henderson....from the Author, 2 January 1857". Very Good condition, with minor marks to front and rear endpapers. Weakening of front hinge.

Very good. No inscriptions. Minor browning / imprinting of print from fold-out map. Generally clean and tight. 310pp + 10pp index. Engraved portrait frontispiece, fold-out map and 9 further plates, some hand coloured (collated & present). The first edition (a further edition was printed later the same year). Attractively bound. The Rev Yate spent seven years in New Zealand before returning to NSW and being dismissed from the mission for misconduct. This work provides an account of the geography, flora and fauna, the social structure of the Maoris, and a history of the mission.

Undated (c1880's). Later printing, with comment "since this pamphlet was first issued, two 'Homes' have been established - one at Ventnor, the other at Folkestone...." (Page 41) - the London City Mission Seaside Home at Ventnor opened in 1877. Cover illustration by H. K Browne, internal black/white line illustrations and plates by Frank Barnard. Good condition, with staple rust marks (staple now removed, leaving pages/covers unbound). Tiny area of loss to lower edge of front cover. No inscriptions. Generally a well preserved example of a scarce (and delicate) item.Philip Bennett Power was born in Ireland in 1822. He graduated at Trinity College, Dublin, and entered the Church of England ministry about 1846, his first charge being at Leicester, where he remained for some two years, during which he began a week-night service in the parlour of a local pub! Some browning to prelims and occasional spotting to closed page edges. Front panel and front/rear flaps of rare original dustwrapper survive, and have been mounted on cream paper making a new dustwrapper. Illustrated by H.M Bateman (line drawings and dustwrapper). 192 pages.

Includes cast lists. Near Very Good condition with minor wear and pinhole to upper title, affecting the 'u' of 'Under'.

Original 9th November 1936 theatre programme for the new revue "Encore Les Dames" at the Prince of Wales' Theatre, London. Starring Lewis Waller and Grace Lane. Programme includes illustrated art deco cover by "AS", illustrations, period advertisements and cast list / production details. Near Very Good condition. Encore Les Dames opened at the Prince of Wales Theatre on the 23rd September, 1936 running until the 23rd January 1937 after which the theatre closed for a complete rebuild. Music and Lyrics by Roger MacDougall, (with Monte Crick and Ronald Frankau). Produced by Valeska. Staged by Alfred Esdaile. Performance of "Tide & Time - A Tale of the Thames" by Henry LESLIE (actor and playwright, 1830-1881) and the Petite Comedy "Tom's Wife". Includes cast lists and synopsis of scenes along the River Thames. Very Good condition.The New Surrey Theatre replaced the Surrey Theatre (and formerly the Royal Circus) on Blackfriars Road which had been destroyed by fire in 1865.
