Fifteen late 19th century volumes of opera scores for piano by renowned composers including Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti and Verdi. This collection was the property of W. G. Moehring, likely of the famed Moehring musical family, who commissioned these custom fine bindings in stamped leather. Penciled musical notations indicate that the owner was undoubtedly a musician. Five raised bands and six compartments on each spine with the composer and the name of the opera in gilt letters. The name "W. G. Moehring" is gilt stamped on each cover in Gothic lettering. All edges are beautifully gilt. Various bookseller's stamps mostly from Philadelphia. Various publishers including Chabal (Paris), Gambogi Freres-editors de musique (Paris). Binding is a dark green leatherette with a gilt embossed Teutonic eagle. This book is clean & tight, in fine condition. The dust jacket is clean and covered in protective Mylar, with the original price unclipped. Marbelized endpapers. There are no bookplates or markings. A very nice copy.
