Both texts show occasional underlining throughout, in both pencil and ink. Both include all original maps, inserts, and supplements in their front inside cover folders. Exteriors show mild shelf rubbing with the occasional spot of light toning or discoloration. No dust jacket, as issued.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Lea and Blanchard, 1847. 1st American Edition . Leather. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. FULL TITLE: Lawrence on the Eye: A Treatise on the Diseases of the Eye by W. Lawrence, F.R.S., Surgeon Extraordinary to the Queen; Surgeon to St. Bartholomew's Hospital and Lecturer on Surgery to that Hospital; Surgeon to Bethlem and Bridewell Hospitals; and Late Surgeon to the London Opthalmic Infirmary. Text is perfectly legible and unmarked by notes etc, but many pages show moderate foxing or humidity staining. Binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. Book shows very heavy age-tanning and shelf rubbing/toning/wear to exterior, with cracking to nameplate on spine. Age-tanning to edges of text block, but not to text itself. Minor bumps to cover corners, and heavy wear to small patch of rear cover board on outer edge. Front cover shows at least two light burns of some sort. Not a pretty book, but structurally very sound and readable.

Immaculate text and beautiful b/w photos and scans in a tight, square binding. Appears unread. Cloth covers show some very minor shelf rubbing/toning to their upper portions.

USA: Harper & Brothers, 1903. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Two volume set. Light green cloth with top edge gilt. Volume 1 is inscribed and dated (1894) by Wallace. Both volumes have clean, minimally tanned texts, sound bindings, and minimal foxing to end papers. Volume 2 has two long stains to back cover not affecting text at all, more of a discoloration, cracked at half-title page. Volume 1 also has 11 signatures, quotes, and dates by other people having participated in a theater production from 1905.
