Changsha: Published and distributed by The Commercial Press, February 1938, third edition, 62 pages, 8vo, slight tears and colophon page stuck to inside rear cover, overall good condition.
The author describes the dangerous situation that all Chinese are facing and appeals the importance of learning resistance songs for students. The book contains 24 music of songs in total.

This comic book tells a story about three sisters in Northeast China where was occupied by the Japanese. One of the sisters was caught and shot dead while they were helping Northeast China Volunteers resist Japanese. The two survived sisters reunite and continue to fight against Japanese. Illustrated with pictures and text.

FIRST EDITION. this text was originally from two essays about the new policy of China Communist Party for the Soviet Union Communist Central Magazine in Bolshevik, and Communist International Executive Committee Magazine, the author demonstrated the new policy of united front in his essay. 16mo, 109 pp., printed title wrappers, slight crease to the cover, slight chips to the spine, near fine condition.

E. B. White's First Book, Inscribed, with a Drawing
W[HITE], E[lwyn] B[rooks]: The Lady is Cold, Poems by E. B. W. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1929. 8vo, xii 95pp; original blue pictorial boards, black cloth spine (dulled). In a chemise and cloth slipcase with gilt-titled spine label.
This is the author's first individual book, preceded only by his collaboration with James Thurber, "Is Sex Necessary?" Light verse, sonnets, a couple of parodies, and some more measured cadences with exhoes of Whitman, Sandburg, Dorothy Parker and others created at 30 years of age. Very nice book overall, especially enhanced by original artwork.
WITH WHITE'S DRAWING OF A BIRD IN A CAGE on the front free endpaper, with the inscription "This copy includes sketch of the author's bird, asleep" signed with initials. to the right is written the word "Baby" and below the date May 1929" all in the author hand. In the upper right hand corner is the signature "Elinor Milnor Parker, June 1, 1929".

BUSCH (Wilhelm): Important study collection for Max und Moritz, the artist's most famous picture-book, chiefly with hand-colored illustrations. Altogether, 75 volumes including the 1st English language version Max and Maurice (Boston 1871), being also the first American printing + 55 editions in German (1880s to 1960, 24th thru 138th printing including a few duplicates), and with 14 volume set of Busch's writings in its original cardboard bookshelf, three audio versions (1960-1975), and 168pp illustrated exhibition catalogue (Hannover: Wilhelm Busch Foundation Museum (1990) celebrating its first 125 years. Laid inside is postmarked four Busch stamps on souvenir 1979 "International Year of the Child … Help Children in Need" pictorial postcard and 3ff related tear sheets (1978). Two volumes, illustrated with engraved frontispieces + 230 illustrations: of which William Blake has contributed 17 original woodblock designs for the First Eclogue + six copperplates of Classical poets and philosophers, all of which he also engraved, and with four additional Blake designs engraved by other hands. These are WILLIAM BLAKE's only woodcut designs and have remained amongst the most influential woodcuts in the historical development of British art. Their influence can be seen in the prints of Edward Calvert and Samuel Palmer. The original blocks survive and are preserved in the British Library (London), last restruck in 1977 by Iain Bain.

A most unusual Christmas gift annual.
William Moon, contracted smallpox as a young child and by age 22 had lost his sight completely. Frustrated by the quality of embossed reading systems he had tried, he developed his own system based on roman lettering, with portions of the letters omitted in order to make the characters more discernible to the touch. Moon's system was easy to master, particularly for those who had learned to read before losing their sight, and it became very successful. However, nowadays examples are rarely encountered.

The memoir written by the Polish musician of Jewish origin who survived the German deportations of Jews to extermination camps, the 1943 destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto, and the 1944 Warsaw Uprising during World War II.
Szpilman wrote his memoir in 1945, shortly after the war's end which was suppressed by Poland's communist authorities. Not many copies of the book were printed, and it was ignored for more than 50 years.
In 1998, Szpilman's son Andrzej Szpilman republished his father's work, first in German as Das wunderbare Überleben ("The Miraculous Survival") and then in English as "The Pianist". It was later published in more than 30 languages. In 2002, Roman Polanski directed a screen version, also called The Pianist, but Szpilman passed away before the film was completed.
