A Very Good copy of the first edition, first printing, in the Publisher's original brown boards with the front board and spine lettered and decorated in gilt. The closed page block's top edge is in gilt as well. The volume is mildly askew, and the board corners and spine ends show minor rubbing and the closed page block's top edge shows a pair of small indentations. Wharton was an American writer who well-knew upper-class New York and portrayed their manners and lives during America's famed Gilded Age. In 1921, she became the first female winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Literature (that being for her twelfth novel "The Age of Innocence" (Appleton & Company, 1920). Madame de Treymes is set in Paris, a city with which, and in which, Wharton had an affair. A Very Good copy of this notable Novella.

A Very Good to Very Good + and somewhat askew copy of the first edition, first printing, in the Publisher's original mustard yellow cloth with the front board illustrated with a spider in a web and with oak tree branch and leaves also in black, and the spine panel being lettered in both black and in gilt and illustrated in gilt, being number 193 in Holt's Leisure Hour Series. The front pastedown and the facing side of the front free endpaper list titles in the Leisure Hour Series and those in the rear list "LATE LEISURE HOUR NOVELS". Several leaves of the page block protrude beyond the others but remain firmly attached and the volume's binding shows some typical soiling and general wear. Copies of this work are presently rather uncommon to the market.

An overall Very Good + copy of the first edition, first printing, of the Savitar, the 1931 -1932 Annual (or Yearbook) for the University of Missouri, published in 1932. The volume is in Very Good condition with a stamp and ownership signature to the front pastedown and some rubbing and wear to the covers, but is easily in better condition copy than the few other copies that we have seen over the past several decades with pages (including the tissue guards) being bright and clean. This unsophisticated volume contains seven (7) tissue guards, one located prior to each "Book" within. Thomas Lanier Williams (generally known by his pen name "Tennessee Williams") attended the University of Missouri from 1929 to 1931. While there, Williams joined the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
