Description:
New York: Vox Turnabout, 1976. LP Record in Jacket. Very Good. 12.5" x 12.5. Turnabout QTV-S 34629. One of the great "old school" violinsts here gives persuasive performances of regrettably seldom-heard gems of the late Romantic Era. The Arensky Concerto (1900) is dedicated to Leopold Auer. The Rimsky-Korsakov Fantasy on Two Russian Themes (1887) was later revised and elaborated by Leopold Auer. The Wieniawski Concert Polonaise (1852-53) displays a level of virtuosity and understanding of the instrument that only a great performr-composer could produce. Contains informative Liner Notes by Richard Freed. CONDITION: Overall Very Good Minus, I'd say, to be safe. The Arensky Concerto side has moderate surface noise, including occasional pops and crackles (less so as the side progresses); the Rimsky-Korsakov track has moderate surface noise, but fewer pops and crackles; the fuller-textured Wieniawski sounds the cleanest of the three. Its jacket has some edge- and corner-wear, as well… Read More
