First edition. 8vo., original green cloth boards, decorated with a silver motif on the bottom right hand corner depicting a stalk within the reeds. Along with silver lettering to the spine., with the original dust jacket; pp. [viii] 9-200; A near fine copy. The jacket hasn't been price clipped displaying the correct price of 8s, 6d. net. A better than usually found copy, with the fragile jacket almost complete, barring tiny amounts of loss to the spine ends. A clean jacket with very little marks. Grayson & Grayson. First edition part of the Grayson Books - a series of limited editions. This being 26 of 285, signed by the author. Published by Grayson & Grayson in 1935. The boards are a tad bowed which seems to be a common flaw with this book. There is a small booksellers label to the inside board. There is very occasional and light foxing marks to a couple of pages. A rare signed book by Graham Greene, and was number 11 out of 12 in the series edited by John Hackney that also included authors H.E Bates and James Hanley.   . Very Good. Faber & Faber. First edition published by Faber and Faber in 1999. This is a near fine copy. The jacket is in excellent condition with very little if any wear. It has not been price clipped and there is no fading. The blue cloth boards have no marks. The front two corners are gently pushed. The pages have started to yellow as is common with this title. Overall a near fine copy and rare to find signed by the Nobel Laureate poet, to the title page without dedication.  A key Seamus Heaney title. His translation of the great anglo-saxon epic poem. It has become increasingly rare to find signed. [Brandes & Durkan A72]. . Near Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1999.

William Heinemann. London: William Heinemann, 1898 8vo., original olive-green cloth, blocked in gilt with title and floral motif to upper board, and lettered along spine; outer edge untrimmed; pp. [ix], 2-527, [xli]; boards a little worn, particularly to the edge of the cloth; sunned along spine, which is also creased; a little shaky in the binding, which is cracked to gutter, some pages a little loose, but holding; for the most part very clean, internally, save for a previous owner's name in ink to title, who has also dashed through the page; occasionally light staining and marking, more so to the first and last few pages; the odd corner crease.  First edition, with the lengthy publisher's catalogue intact to rear.  An interesting example of early 19th century feminist literature. Sarah Grand is the pseudonym for Frances Clarke, the novelist and women's rights campaigner who published a series of books on the theme of women's suffrage and who went on to become… Read More

Duckworth & Co. London: Duckworth & Co., 1903 8vo., blue cloth, ruled and lettered in black to upper cover and spine, with device to foot; pp. [v], vi-ix, [iv], 2-302, [ii]; cloth a little rubbed and darkened, with spine ends compressed; endpapers browned, offset, and slightly foxed; a few spots, marks and corner creases within the text; edges a trifle dust soiled; a very sturdy copy, nonetheless.  First UK edition, translated from the Russian by R. The stories included in this collection are among the longest of his short works, and include In Exile, Two Tragedies, and Sleepyhead.… Read More
