Binding is square & book feels unread. No signs of use or wear to dust jacket or slipcase other than faint soiling to bottom edge of slipcase. A very sharp copy.

Harcourt Brace and Company, 1922. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/None. First edition, second issue with points on page 49 "Supposing Lyte" on line 4, and "any fellow human" on line 5. Pages are tanned and unmarked, aside from previous owner's inscription on front flyleaf. Text block edges are browned and soiled. Boards are scuffed and edgeworn, with bumped, worn corners and softened spine ends. Buckram on spine is cracked along edge of front gutter, revealing milling beneath. Binding is starting throughout and some spots partially cracked. Hinges are both cracked.

C.F. Peters, 1916. Hardcover. Very good/None. German language edition of musical score, The Well-Tempered Clavier, revised and with fingerings by Carl Czerny. Rubbing to covers with spotty deterioration to leather portions (spine and fore edges). Chipping, rubbing and general wear around the edges. Foxing to front endpapers and first few pages. Stamp on title page and frontispiece. Small liquid stain to top edge of rear endpaper and last dozen or so pages near gutter. Uneven tanning to rear endpaper where newspaper clippings have been stored. Besides aforementioned issues, all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. Binding remains quite strong on the whole and spine is straight.

Pages are unmarked except for previous owner's name in pencil on front endpaper. Scarlet top stain has faded. Binding is firm. Dampstaining to bottom of boards and spine along with text block fore-edge. Not visible on individual pages. Board corners are bumped and spine ends have softened. Scuffing to corners and spine ends. Top of spine starting to fray.

The binding is slightly yielding with a small break between pages 504-505. The pages are bright, crisp, and unmarked with a marbled edge on all three sides. Front free endpaper appears to have been removed.

Rubbing to jacket with chipping, tears and general wear around the edges. Two large open tears to spine with related creasing to top right corner of back cover. Jacket is protected from further damage, now in archival sleeve. Corners bumped and spine ends softened. Previous owner's personal ex-libris sticker on front endpaper, otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. Binding is loosening somewhat, though all pages remain firmly attached and text block is somewhat curved. Half of page 69/70 is torn off.

Front hinge of Vol 1 cracked, with other hinges much more mildly so. Several instances of mildly split binding with bottom right corner of gilt-edged text block worn due to sagging text block. All pages clean and unmarked though tanned.
