There is a 1"-wide darkening of the f.f.e.p. edge and inside front paste-down from the d.j. along with corresponding darkening at the back of the book. The d.j. is not in great shape, with chipping around the edges, small chunks missing from several edges, and clear tape holding the front panel together (the tape is on the interior side). Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, Inc.. 1954. 192pp. LOC #54-6067. This is #78 of the "Childhood of Famous Americans" series. The blue boards show a little soil darkening at the top 1/2", and the bottom corners are slightly bumped. Other than that, the book is in fantastic shape for 70 years old. The d.j. is good, with wear to the edges and typical 1/2" tears at the top and bottom of the backstrip and a few 1/8" tears at the top and bottom of the front and back panels. The coloring on the d.j. backstrip is a little sun-faded, but the other artwork is bright. The inside is clean and unmarked. Apparent first edition, with no additional printings listed on the title page. (57570) . Very Good. First Edition. Hardcover.

Stockholm: A.L. Normans. 1891. 744, 256pp. All text is Swedish. The title page reads "Bibeln eller den heliga skrift innehallande gamla och nya testamentets kanoniska bocker ofversattning af kongl bibelkommissionen". It looks like the final blank leaf was torn out, but it appears all the text is intact. The final text page does have a tear and a small hole, affecting a bit of the text (see picture - the missing bit of the page is stuck to the inside of the rear cover). The first leaf has a 1" tear at the bottom, as well as a gift inscription in Swedish (apparently the Bible was given on the recipient's confirmation day, September 13, 1891) with a list of verses and two names, presumably the giver and receiver. That this book ended up in the U.S. implies it was brought here by a Swedish immigrant. NY: Canyon Books. 1967. 60pp. This is a book of jokes and drawings from the Israeli point of view about the Arab/Israeli Six-Day War. For example, "One Egyptian private ran so fast he caught up to his officers." There is scraping on the front and back covers near the hinge side, and a few small horizontal creases. The top open front corner also has a minor triangle crease. Those are really the only defects; the inside of the book is clean and unmarked. (57271) . Good. Paperback.
