Sets in good condition are scarce, and difficult to assemble.

One of the best known works of Nicolás Guillén, a renowned Afro-Cuban poet who collaborated with Langston Hughes and was outspoken antifascist. José Chávez Morado's bold hand-printed design for the work's cover depicts a field of stars and bolts of lightning. An essential title for collections of Caribbean literature.

A lovely copy of the first trade edition of Campoamor's defining work on rum cocktails published in July of 1984, "Año del XXV Aniversario de Triunfo de la Revolucíon." The colophon suggests that Campoamor had self published the work in 1981, yet we can find no substantial record of the previous work. Prior to his fame as an historian of food and drink, Campoamor worked as journalist in Havana before and after the Revolution, developing ties with Neruda, Hemingway, Guillén and other luminaries of the era. Coctelería Cubana is still sought after today by bartenders and cocktail aficionados. Scarce, especially in such good condition.

A fascinating and detailed work concerning the use of cacao in culinary practice, mostly toward the production of chocolate confections including "choco-lait" or milk chocolate, which -- while invented in 1875 -- only rose to wide popularity in the early 20th century. Other recipes given include those for pralines, fondants creme, chocolat a la noisette, and a number of proprietary recipes for chocolate candy shells and coatings. The journal is careful, precise, and shows edits and redactions evidencing experimentation by a skilled chef. Unique.

A fascinating set of self-issued books by the author, with texts evoking beat poets of the era, dream journals, and automatic writing. Liebow went on to become a noted San Francisco Gurdjieffian hypnotist and teacher. The present offer includes the first four books he produced under the moniker Harlequin Press, each one limited to 40 copies each. They are in uniformly fine condition.

Gary Richman's 'Blue Book' project has resulted in an ongoing series of publications since the early 1980s. According to a page for the artist on Printed Matter's website. Pulp's anthem of class consciousness, drawn by the genius who gave us Tank Girl. According to the comically Franglish introduction, "They're part of melodic continuum that began in England's dance hall during WWI. More recent points on that timeline have included The Kinks, Roxy Music, Bowie (Diamond Dogs era), The Smiths, and Blur. Pulp's songs present a very English slice of life, garnished with bathos, wit and humor.The melange includes guitars, bass, drums, violin, a very cheesy Farisa organ (how retro!) ans [sic] the inimitable vocal stylings of Mr. Jarvis Cocker."
