A Preliminary Announcement brochure, issued in Montreal on May, 20th, 1924 for the upcoming Feb. 9th - April, 11th, 1925 Mediterranean Cruise of the CPR steamship S.S. Empress of Scotland. Narrow 8vo size (8-3/8 inches tall), pp. 16, illustrated throughout w. B&W photo reproductions of the vessel's interior and exterior, itinerary table and a cruise route map. A fine copy. Even 100 years later, this is still an attractive style of travel for many.

Photo measures 5.25 x 7.75 inches wide, mounted onto heavy card measuring 6.5 x 8.25 inches wide, ink caption under photo reads "High trestle bridge, over Ceader [sp.] Creek". Photo w. some light scratches, scuffs and tiny abrasions to emulsion, card mount has some toning along bottom edge and a rough, unfinished surface verso. Cedar Creek bridge was one of many wooden trestle bridges built through the mountainous Selkirk Range, in BC, that were replaced by steel bridges in the 1890s.

CPR completed the transcontinental railway in 1885 and employed the Notman studio to photograph the countryside along the newly completed railway. This helped to solicit large groups of wealthy customers into seeing world class tourist attractions via their railway. A gelatin POP photograph, measuring 7 x 9.25 inches wide, mounted onto a Notman Studio Imperial Cabinet Card measuring 8 x 10 inches wide. Mount is slightly curved, photo has some faint spotting. A gentleman in a hat can be seen reclining on one of the rocks beside the river, perhaps Mr. Notman or his assistant, while behind them, the CPR railway bed is visible with the Cariboo Wagon Road and Gold Rush Trail rising up in the background. [Calgary?]: Alberta Social Credit Party, 1940. Poster. Near Fine. A circa 1940 meeting notice, "A Public Meeting on Social Credit (The Alberta Provincial System)" etc., printed in black ink onto paper measuring 12 x 9 inches wide; somewhat toned, else a fine, unused copy. Date assumed from paper stock and comments printed within text. The populated locality of Harmattan is north west of Calgary. An uncommon and ephemeral survivor of an announcement poster that was intended to be pasted up on buildings, poles and in shop windows.

DJ with light wear and a repaired 1" closed tear on front panel. An Illustrated history of Calgary, Alberta, co-written by the daughter of the famous Grant MacEwan.

California: Best & Co, 1895. Photograph. Poor. Image shows the transfer point at the foot of The Great Cable Incline on Mt. Lowe in California where passengers would transfer from the tramway to the funicular car for the steep ride up Mt. Lowe. Gelatin silver print with white borders, 8 inches tall x 5 inches wide, with "Great Cable Incline, Mt. Lowe, Cal. / 482 / Best & Co." written in negative along bottom edge. Print w. creases, chips [corners mostly gone] and small edge tears, verso with some toning evident at upper left corner, an institutional rubber stamp, ink name and numbers. A famous California tourist destination, with this c. 1895 image showing both Lowe's tramway and his loaded funicular car. Mr. Lowe lost his railway to receivership in 1899, so with his name still being clearly visible on the tram in the photo, this photo predates his railway passing into Huntington's hands via the Pacific Electric Railway. A postally unused card with unutilized seal still attached, printed on both sides of a single sheet of white/peach-colored paper (7 inches tall x 12-5/8 inches wide), postcard obverse, twice folded to achive postcard size with two photo reproductions - one of a Redwood tree and the other of the Redwood Forest on The Enchanted Trail, Hwy 101 in Northern California. Three poems by Remore accompany, "A Monarch of the Redwoods", "The Enchanted Trail" & "Desecration", copyright notice shows "© By M.B. and Neil Remore Cummings, Cal., 1936 " Postcard with some toning and traces of finger soil, else clean and unmarked. We find no record of any other copy extant of this triple-decker postcard.

Three circa 1925 gelatin silver panoramic photographs, all measuring 4-1/2 inches tall x 11 inches wide [or reverse] titled and numbered respectively in negative : No. 103 ["Redwood Highway, Calif"] ; 113 ["Redwood Highway, Calif"] ; and 119 ["On the Redwood Highway, Calif"] with Patterson signature type #3 and white borders. Photos with some toning, light wear and soil, versos with the rubber stamp of "Endert's Drug Store" and an [ex] institutional rubber stamp. Uncommon images and format, showing an as yet unpaved highway and the spectacular views along the Redwood Highway. Images accompanied by an institutional letter of deaccession. None of these panoramic views [or any other "100" series images for that matter] were found in "A Patterson Postcard Checklist and Workbook" by Robert I. Wright, nor were they found in any of the online state or museum Patterson photo or postcard catalogues.

A collection of 4 vintage B&W stills from the 1935 US film, Call of the Wild. 3 stills are 8 x 10 inches and 1 still is 6 x 6.75 inches, with two of the 8 x 10s being linen backed. 3 photos have a seller stamp on verso, glue dots on the verso of the one smaller still, the one unbacked 8 x 10 has an 1-3/4 inch closed tear with tiny loss to image on right side. One of Jack London's finest and most loved stories, here filmed in California, Washington and Nevada.

Saddle stapled illustrated wraps, 16mo (5-7/8 inches [15 cm.] tall), pp. 16, illustrated with drawings throughout and "Published by Coca-Cola Ltd. in the Interest of Scouting" printed on the front cover. Containing many camp related projects including a stove, a cooking kit, bird feeders and a wired lamp. Light soil and wear with some rust to staples. An uncommon piece of Coca-Cola sponsored Scouting ephemera, featuring a "zingy" soda jerk displaying an early, stylized example of the iconic "Smiley Face" - soon to be found on coffee mugs, t-shirts and bumper stickers everywhere.

"Of all contemporary artists the world over, the most likely candidate for immortality is the photographer, Yousuf Karsh..." from the front flap. Now in archival mylar.
