Moderate wear, photos of varying quality although all in VG condition or better; gift inscription. Gift inscription dated 27/6/05 addressed to "Uncle Fred" from his nephew Sinhubert(??), though we speculate the latter is perhaps a nickname or a joke, and that the nephew is in fact Charles Townsend and the uncle Fred Priddle. The nephew is likely the subject of many of these photos, a young man of good humor often shown clowning around with friends and children, who in one picture stands sadly next to the gravestone of one Ann and Alfred Priddle. Modest extremity wear to boards; small patch of sticker adhesive/staining to ffep; light toning. Dust jacket edgeworn with several nicks/sm. chips to top edges and spine ends; short tear with loss to center of spine panel, obscuring the "c" in "Introduction". Derrida's earliest published work (1962), translated and with a Preface by John P. Leavey.

Light scuff to rear wrapper; minor shelfwear. Clean and bright. Artist's book of Crawford's photo series of different kinds of industrial materials -- glass, aluminum, steel -- in the Mojave Desert, in California. The photos were taken from 1975-1978, and reflect Crawford's enduring interest in the interplay between the natural world and mankind.OCLC locates one holding.

London: Printed for Longman, Hurst, Rees and Orme; Printed by J. Dewick , 1810. Good. 14 cm. iv,47,[1]pp. Self wrappers (or lacking wrappers?), resewn using new holes. Wrappers somewhat grubby and stained, with ownership signature interspersed with title; loss to corner of one leaf, not affecting text; occasional pencil lines to margins. A published extract from Robert Walsh’s A Letter on the Genius and Dispositions of the French Government, which unfavorably compared France’s mode of taxation with Britain’s. Walsh was an ardent Federalist and editor of the American Review of History and Politics; his Letter didn’t go over so well in America, but was (unsurprisingly) quite a hit in England — the editor of The Edinburgh Review reportedly exclaimed after reading it, “We must all learn to love Americans, if they send us many such pamphlets”. A surprisingly scarce booklet for teaching English to Chinese students, most likely by Western missionaries. The lessons cover the English alphabet, simple words and phrases, and short Christian texts, side by side with the same in Chinese; instructions for the teacher are scattered throughout.
OCLC locates only three holdings of any edition, at Yale, the University of Virginia and the University of Illinois.
