Description:
From the d.j.: "The latest in Ian Allen's highly successful 'at Work' series covers a wide ranging subject area: the East Coast Pacifics from Gresley's "A1" Class of 1922 through to Peppercorn's postwar designs.
To cover such a kaleidoscope of brilliant designs requires an author of authority and experience: P. N. Townsend is just that. As shed master of the King's Cross "Top Shed" depot he worked with all the LNER Pacific types and is able to use his knowledge and contacts to make East Coast Pacifics at Work a reference book to grace the historian's bookshelf--with a superb selection of line drawings and photographs to illustrate the detailed text."

Description:
From the d.j.: "When Horace turns eleven, he celebrates in grand style by inviting his friends to a splendid party. There are games, there is fine music, and there is the promise of a magnificent feast to come. But little does Horace know that when the time comes for the birthday banquet, a most curious mystery will be revealed." What happened to all the food? Busy, wonderfully-detailed pages full of many different animals, mostly in fancy dress. The seven-page Top Secret explanation has been opened (who could resist?) and you may be surprised with what happened to the food.
Author/artist Graeme Base has by now published two dozen or more equally interesting and incredible books that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Description:
RCMP Inspector Coswell is back. A university professor is murdered and his corpse is revealed to a first year anatomy class in spectacular fashion -- nude on a slab alongside shrouded medical cadavers. He begins his investigation with Corporal James, his long time assistant, but is abruptly assigned a new partner, a female officer who arrives under a political cloud. Already depressed by his perceived plunge into senility, Coswell struggles to stifle his own gender biases and work effectively with this woman. As they delve into the victim's affairs, their list of suspects grows: failed students, a jealous colleague, an intriguing ex-wife and a criminal cartel. Clues emerge that send them all over the city of Vancouver from UBC campus to downtown and its gourmet restaurants plus Stanley Park and English Bay.
