This is a collection of stories that are based on the author's travels in 1907 to 1908 when he was correspondent of Harper's Magazine in Syria, Palestine, Arabia and Egypt. The stories are so well crafted they read almost like fiction and are accompanied by 17 illustrations (including the color frontispiece) printed on glossy paper. Grace Abounding was first published in 1666 and has remained in print continuously since then. There were 20 printings of the book before this “New Edition” was published (it is number 21 of 47 in the ESTC list), although ESTC’s census only finds 43 copies of the earlier printings (a WorldCat search turned up about 38 holdings).
