1760. Copper-line engraving. 110mm by 85mm (platemark). Field Marshal George Townshend, 1st Marquess Townshend, PC (1724 - 1807), known as The Viscount Townshend from 1764 to 1787, was a British soldier and politician. In cooperation with Prime Minister North in London he imposed much greater British control over Ireland.
