Smart, John. A Handbook for the Identification of Insects of Medical Importance. (British Museum: London, 1943) with chapters on Fleas by Dr. Karl Jordan and on Arachnids by R. J. Whittick.
Quarto, 269 pages. 13 plates, all present, and numerous in-text illustrations.
Bound in green boards, front board stamped with a double rule frame in blind, Spine stamped in gilt with a rule top and bottom. Book shows slight lean to left.
John Smart (1907-1986) was on the staff of the Natural History Museum in London at the time of publication. Karl Jordan (1861-1959) was an entomologist working at the Walter Rothschild Zoological Museum in Tring, Hertfordshire, England.
