This catalog presents a selection of works by the then recently re-discovered artist Jakob Philipp Hackert (1737- 1807) a landscape painter from Brandenburg who worked mostly in Italy. He was in Rome from 1768 to 1786 when his pictures were much in demand. A trove of these works came up at auction in Paris, but were claimed by the state.
