Slocombe was an accomplished 19th century English painter and etcher from Hampstead, London. He was from a family of distinquished artists including his brothers Frederick and Edward. Charles specialised in rustic landscapes and country scenes. The subtle, muted tones captured in his "In Summer Woods" are indicative of his artistic craftsmanship.
