Owen, 1794. xl, 121pp, [7]; [4], 68pp. Rebound in modern half-calf and marbled boards, raised bands, spine in six panels, original morocco label relaid in second panel, bands bordered by gilt double rules. Title label slightly chipped otherwise externally very good indeed. Internally the first work is lightly browned throughout, but fairly clean. The second work has a small water stain to fore-edge throughout, with a larger and heavier water stain to corners of the last two signatures. First work was largely by Burke, the third edition, with the 6pp list of books but lacking the 24pp catalogue, which according to Todd is missing in most copies, Todd 62c. The second work is by Camille Desmoulins, and is the second edition. Reprint. Half Calf and Boards. Good. 8vo.

No Place: No Publisher, 1696. Single sided manuscript stock sheet / invoice, approximately 205mm x 145mm in size. Lightly browned, slightly chipped to edges but with no loss, reverse with a small amount of mathematics and two docket titles. The stock of John Bond, presumably referring to lead seals for sealing packages, but possibly for fob seals used for sealing documents, this dated July 2nd, 1696, with the stock "remaining in his hands on last recount of March 26, 1696" listed. Beneath the charge of thirty pounds, fifteen shillings and eight pence is noted and signed by the parties involved including Bond, and below that a note that the remainder is due on this account Oct. 1, 1696 signed by Tho, Smalle for Small ?Moscow. First Edition. Unbound. Good. 12mo (Oblong). Receipt / Invoice.

London: Merivale Editions Single sheet, in printed card chemise as issued, approximately 205mm x 295mm in size, n.d. Three woodcuts by Lawrence, originally commissioned as illustrations for 'Autobiographical Writings of John Clare' (OUP, 1983), and here printed directly from the original blocks in an edition of five hundred (this being number four hundred and nine), on 145gsm Zerkall mould-made paper. Royston, Hertfordshire: No Publisher, 1825. Part printed, part manuscript apprenticeship indenture, approximately 255mm x 210mm in size. Slightly water stained to top right hand corner, but no loss of sense, central horizontal crease, but generally quite bright and clean. Standard apprenticeship indenture between John Clark, aged fifteen years "or thereabouts", with the consent of his father William Clark, a victualler, and William Camps of Royston, Hertfordshire, boot and shoemaker, for five years, dated the 21st February 1825, with the usual warnings against bad behaviour, "he shall not commit fornication nor contract Matrimony within the said Term, he shall not play at cards or Dice Tables ... he shall not haunt Taverns or Playhouses". With the tax stamps and wax seals, quite an attractive example. First Edition. Unbound. Good. 8vo (Oblong). Ephemera.

Two volumes complete - Volume One - Biography and Bibliography - [8], ix-xi, [2], 3-239pp, [1] and Volume Two - Journals and Letters - [4], v-xi, [3], 3-234pp, [2]. Original half Japon vellum and boards, paper title label to spine. Spines browned and rubbed, scrape to head of volume two catching label with small amount of loss, corners bumped, boards lightly soiled. Internally quite bright and clean. Folding facsimile letter frontispiece to volume two. This is one of thirty copies on Imperial Japan paper (with a further three hundred and fifty copies bound in cloth and printed on deckle edged paper). Gaine was a printer and bookseller, born in Belfast, who arrived at New York in 1745. BAL 6231. First Edition. Hardback. Good/No Jacket (as Issued?). 4to. Limited Edition.

Two volumes complete - Volume One - xl, 325pp, [1] and Volume Two - [4], 366pp. Later full straight grain morocco, raised bands, spines in six panels, author in gilt to second panel, volume number to third, and date to foot with single fillet frame, remaining panels framed with double fillet, covers with double fillet panel with fleurons to corners, with double fillet border, gilt roll to edges and inner edges, a.e.g., marbled endpapers. Spines very slightly faded, rubbed to spine ends and corners, light scuff to foot of upper cover of volume two. Internally some light off setting from engraved portraits, but generally quite bright and clean.
