The first published foray into idealogical polemics by the German poet and playwright Heinrich Heine. Heine, influenced by his life as a Jew in French-occupied Germany as well as by mentor, philosopher Georg Hegel, was a political liberal, although one who expressed himself with some refinement. Anti-aristocratic, he moved to France in 1831 to show his support for the French Revolution, and soon after published Kalldorf Uberden Adel, itself an attack on aristocracy in general and upon Count Von Moltke in particular. Upon later meeting Von Moltke - one of the most accomplished and respected Germans of the era - Heine offered a published and an in-person… Read More

1887. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. (no place / no publisher): 1887, Kando Koron. Subtly patterned wraps, 26 pp., woodblock printed on soft, fibrous, flexible paper, likely a form rice paper. In Japanese throughout, of course. Very Good; one stain and bit of sporadic soil on cover (see scans), covers have stood the test of time quite sturdily. Contents are Fine. 2009. Soft cover. Fine. Burton, David W.. Original pin-up art by David W. Burton, entitled by him "Keeper of the Way". 9" x 12", graphite on Bristol paper. Fine. With original mailing envelope from Burton. A well-armed, but clearly not of a mind to overdress, Warrior Damsel guards an ancient oaken door (see scan). Burton, who passed away on December 8th, 2011, was a much-acclaimed, award winning artist who created work for a wide variety of publishers in the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Comics fields. His works hang in galleries internationally. Burton executed private commissions for a number of well known authors and producers, among those Ray Bradbury, and Danton Burroughs described Burton's art as the best representation of his grandfather's Tarzan story-line in many years. Regarding that same illustrative sequence, comics legend Al Williamson said of Burton: "Its about damn time somebody got it right!" One of Burton's Mars pieces appeared in the… Read More

Kenya, Mukamata Region: uncredited, 2018. No Binding. New. New. See image and description. Kenyan Hand-Woven Grass Saucer Trivet, Mukamama Region. 10" Diameter. Teal, buff and cream colors in the case of this piece are dyed by the Kenyan artists who require 2 or 3 days of manual labor for a piece such as this. In this process, natural sisal fibers are dyed, then woven over a core of forest grass. Historically, such "saucer trivets" were used by the Kenyans themselves to protect a sensitive surface from the heat of medium size hot cookware. Here, though one could do that, such an artwork is better suited as a wall-hanging, shelf display, or a jewelry holder. Don't submerge this artwork, nor wash with it water; a damp cloth is all that should be used, if cleaning becomes necessary. Try to find another one of these... Ships in a sturdy box, of course. LUns
