1850. Letter folds. A 5 1/2" x 6 1/2" folded paper with two rings of hair held in place with a textured paper diamond. The hand penned sentiment reads "When this you see please dear cousin think of me - Lucinda M. Titus" Most likely Lucinda M. Titus, born 1836, Groton MA.

Canada: Kellogg Company, 1948. The brightly colored book filled with forty-two (42) animals dressed up in various costumes. Six (6) pages are cut in 6 pieces to provide a numerous hilarious combinations of heads, bodies and feet. In fact there are over 335 different animal combinations! Below each section of animals is a short verse that serves a duel purpose of describing what the animals are doing and advertising Kellogg cereals. Measures 8" x 6".

Battle Creek, Mich.: Kellogg Company , 1928. This fabric book is a part of a series called the Nursery Rhymes or Fairyland Doll Series. There were four dolls in the series: Tom, the Pipers Son, Little Bo Peep, Mary and her Little Lamb and Little Red Riding Hood. Each uncut fabric sheet came with a 12" to 15" cloth doll and two pages of a nursery rhyme book. The book in the collection only has two pages and the covers, telling the classic nursery rhyme of Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son. In addition to the text there is a small, red illustration on the bottom of each page. No doll is included in the collection, just the book. 4 pp. (including covers) Measures 3 3/4" x 3". The book was a premium given by Kellogg's - designed to be cut and constructed by a child.

Battle Creek, Mich: Kellogg Company, 1932. Overall condition is good. The book features six (6) pages of sliced animals in 6 pieces to provide numerous, hilarious combinations of heads, bodies and feet when flipped about. There are also little verses that pair with the illustrations that give some context, which also happen to mention Kellogg's various cereal products as well. Measures 8" x 6

Boston, Massachusetts: Fred'k A. Brown & Co, 1862. Good. Toned, a couple small stains/water staining, wrappers worn with one or two short tears. Upper wrapper becoming loose. Spine chipped.. The printed answer key provided to teachers for the "Common School Arithmetic" textbook. Provides insight into what mathematical disciplines were taught to students in 1862, including: basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc.; fractions; money; percentages; square roots. Includes more financially-focused math than modern classrooms (e.g. interest, profit and loss, commission and brokerage, etc.). Single vol. (7.25" by 4.75"), pp. 30, sewn in contemporary marbled wrappers.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1921. 302 pp. Cloth cover with applied printed paper title, frontispiece, heavily illustrated and decorated by Louis Rhead. An exciting tale of David Balfour, who after his father dies, goes to live with his miserly old uncle. The uncle brings him to the port one day where he proceed to sell the boy. 9 1/4" x 6 1/4" some rubbing on edge of cover, inscribed, ex-libris of previous owner.

Berlin: Deutscher Arbeitersängerbund [German Workers' Singing Association], 1926. 24 pp, Kinder Lieder: Erstes Heft, zwei- und mehrstimmige lieder und Kanons für kleine und große kinder, which roughly translates to: First Edition, two- and three-part songs and canons for young and old children. The front cover is printed in two colors, with the title and border design in blue and a line drawing of three children of varying ages singing in red. Each song in the book also has illustrations depicting the song. Some of the songs in this book are: Alle Vögel sind schon da [All the Birds Are Already Here], A, B, C, die Katze lief im Schnee [A, B, C, The Cat Ran in the Snow], Ein Männlein steht im Walde [A Little Man Stands in the Forest], and Der Kuckuck und der Esel [The Cuckoo and The Donkey]. In German. Measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/2'. Minor toning and soiling due to age.

Boston, Massachusetts: Wright & Potter Printing Company, 1883. Good. Water staining, light toning and dust soiling, minor short tears to foot. Sewing beginning to loosen.. An important early publication in the history of education, including the oft-reproduced portrait of Friedrich Froebel (1782-1852), here engraved by Littell of New York. Aiming to align the general public with Froebel's cause, the preface ends with an entreaty: "Fellow-citizens, will you not aid us to assist the blind to help themselves?" (p. 4). 8vo (9.25" by 5.75"), pp. 14, unbound (possibly as issued?), contemporary crude sewing to left-hand margin, misbound so that the title-page is on the verso of the first leaf and not the recto.

Germany, 1906. Minor damage to covers due to rubbing, particularly on the bottom right corner of the front cover. Covers have a partial separation from of end papers text block. Age toning.. This book is volume 3 and 4 bound into a single volume. Illustrated by Ernest Liebermann. There are twelve (!2) full-page color illustrtations, five (5) additional half page (and less) color illustrations, as well as numerous black and white illustrations throughout. Inscribed on the front blank end papers. There are fifteen songs in each volume, thirty in total. Some of the songs found within the book are: Wer hat die schonsten schafchen (Who has the most beautiful sheep), Des Mantellied (the Mantle Song), Wanderlied (Migratory Song), and Aufder Wacht (On the Wakes). Illustrated board covers. Front cover depicts a young girl wandering through the woods holding a basket of flowers. There is a young boy in the back ground, sitting on a tree stump playing the violin. Measures 11 1/2" x 9

Wien, C. A. Spina, 1866. 7 pages, cover has a floral decoration along with the image of six children dancing in a circle. The inside cover contains a list of of other songs published by Johann Strauss and his two brothers Josef and Eduard. In German. Measures 13 1/2" x 10 1/4" Inscribed. Toned and soiled due to age. Tape repair on inside front cover.

A two-evening performance with an extensive list of acts and performances to benefit the Pasadena Children's Training Society. As presented by F. M. Agostini and P. L. Lynwood. Heralding women on front cover heralding the festivities. The Program Synopsis includes 20 different activities including Night in Japan, Italian Romance, The Garland and Wood Nymphs of Ancient Rome, The Spanish Dancers, The Bohemians or Gypsies, La Carmencita, The National Dances of Marsovia, Grand Voting, Grand Closing March, Kirmess Supper and much more. It also includes the names of all patrons and performers. All of the content of the program is sandwiched in advertisements for area business and hotels such as Pacific Coast Motor Car Co., Hotel Green, San Gabriel Valley Bank, The Raymond, Blake, Moffitt & Towne Paper and many many more. Quite informative of the region's commerce of the day. Measures 9" x 12

Includes two separate stories. The first story is humanized starlings and sparrows coexisting. The second story features various humanized animals and the rites of spring. A one page appearance of a family of dancing rabbits teaching their young to dance. Fine color illustrations. Last page features other titles by the publishers. Measures 7" x 4 1/2

Germany: Unknown, 1850. Minimal wear.. A 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" paper covered pressed board box with applied hand colored litho cover depicts a group of little girls in an outdoor setting. Applied gilt border decoration ox top. The content includes two (2) identical 4 1/2" two-sided paper dolls of the same young girl. The set is intended to have to dolls. Also includes 8 two-sided outfits. Each holds an object - including a stick and hoop, a dog to walk, a doll in her image, a vase of flowers, a book, needlepoint, a little lamb and lastly a garland of flowers overhead. The shepherdess costume includes a hat. Other hats lacking. Finely detailed costumes. Hand finished details.

Enriched Tip Top Bread, 1959. A vibrant colorful volvelle created by Enriched Tip Top Bread, both to advertise their bread and also teach the user interesting facts about the individual states. This double sided volvelle, has five openings on each side that reveals a fact about each state as you turn the wheel. For each state you learn its nickname, population, size in square miles, capitol, state flower, and what it is noted for. For example the state of Wisconsin, aka the Badger State, is noted for vegetables, dairying, furs and iron. The volvelle is double side as it only twenty-four states on each side of the wheel. The background of the volvelle has an image of the Statue of Liberty against the night sky. Each side of the wheel has a box of quick facts about Alaska and Hawaii with the note that their admission to statehood is pending. At the base of the volvelle is is Tip Top Bread's motto "If it's still fresher than TIP-TOP -it's still in the oven!" Measures 5 1/4" x 4 1/2

c1920. This handmade photography guide, called, Kodakery, contains a series of drawings, photographs, and printed photographs, used to illustrate the art of photography. Made from a photo album, it contains 23 pages of written text, 5 pages of drawings, 26 individual photographs, and 16 printed photographs. Kodakery is a term that was derived from the camera name "Kodak", and according to this guide it meant "the taking of pictures, developing and finally printing to show the picture." The guide starts off with a description of the camera itself, its various parts and 6 different types of lenses (miniscus, concave, convex, meniscus achromatic, rapid rectilnear, and anastigmatic lenses), and more specifically how light enters the camera through the different lenses. The guide continues on to provide in-depth explanations of a fixed focus camera and of that of an adjustable focal length, and what that means for the camera's depth of focus, even discussing what F-stops are best for different types of… Read More
