Description:
New Orleans: NAAWP, 1980. The National Association for the Advancement of White People was founded as a white advocacy organization by David Duke in 1980 following his departure from the Ku Klux Klan. Modeled purposely after the NAACP, Duke used the NAAWP to attract a middle class likely to support his political aspirations, which culminated in his surprising election to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1988. Despite subsequent campaigns for President, Senator and Governor, this would prove to be Duke's only political appointment. The NAAWP News featured stories on black crime, integration, racial conflict (e.g., Howard Beach), Duke's political aspirations, and the plight of white people in a multicultural, multiracial America. Each issue also included long letters from other white activists and advertisements for racialist literature available from Duke's Americana Books. Issues in this run include nos. 37, 45-54, 56, and a sampler issue, which features the same cover 60, 66, and the… Read More

About Near Fine. Scarce in commerce. "This bibliography attempts to bring together the now rather considerable literature on [the Marxist-Christian] dialogue published between 1961-1967, in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Although earlier attempts at dialogue, including such enthusiastic efforts as the "outstretched hand" in the 1930's of Maurice Thorez, the French Communist, were abortive, Pope John XXIII's persistent encouragement of dialogue secured continuing… Read More
