The dark green covers are good condition, with moderate bumping/rolling on top and bottom of spine and corners. There is fading and some color loss and spotting to the covers and spine. The title, author and publisher in gold on the front cover and spine, although the lettering on the spine is faded, but readable. The binding is solid, although the gutter is visible when open in a couple of locations, especially near the back; the boards are a bit loose, but fully attached. The interior of this book is in good plus condition. The only writing detected is the name of a previous owner (dated August, 1927) on the front free end paper. The pages are generally clean and bright. The book includes many black and white photographs (over 100) showing scenes from several national parks such as Crater Lake, Mesa Verde, and Yosemite. Houghton Mifflin Co. Boston. 1959. Third Printing. Hardcover. The Green covers are in very good condition, with mild bumping at corners and top of spine. The spine is faded a bit but author and title clearly visible. A sketch of New York City skyline with a flock of birds on front cover. The dust jacket is colorful with a Bald Eagle on the front and a black/white photo of the author on the back, which is lightly soiled in spots. The spine is a bit sunned; the dust jacket is frayed with toning in spots around the interior edges. It is in a clear Mylar protective cover. The interior of the book is in very good plus condition. There is no writing or markings and the pages are bright. The binding is firm, this book may be unread. The front and rear endpapers are a map of the New York City area; the interior pages contain many drawings by Henry Bugbee Kane of different organisms such as fish, fungi, and plants.

Comstock Publishing Co. Ithaca, N.Y. 1914 (1913 on title page). 348 pages. Hardcover. The dark green covers are in good condition, there is some rubbing/fraying on edges and corners. The are two dark, small stains on the back cover and one small white spot on the front. The title, author and a decorative spider web are stamped in gold on the front cover. The spine is quite faded and the title/author are not discernible; the spine top and bottom are bumped and worn. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in good plus condition. There are 3 stamps of the previous owners name and a stain on the inside of the front cover, and a small number stamp on the front free endpaper. Some of the interior pages are mildly toned and or contain small stains. The only markings seen are 2 small checks at the beginning of Chapter 1 (pg. 9) and a previous owner name stamped on pg. 13. Most of the pages are clean and bright. The book includes 140 black/white illustrations and several data tables.

The covers are in near fine condition, their original color is present and vibrant with clear text and illustration on them. There is very minor bumping on the corners and bottom of spine; there is a small 1/4" mark near the bottom back corner. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in very good condition. The only writing is a previous owners name, initials and date (in ink) on the front pastedown and free endpaper. Otherwise there is no writing, or markings detected in the book.
