Worcester, Massachusetts: White & Bagley Company, 1940. 3 3/8" by 6 1/8". An original vintage ink blotter card advertising Oilzum, one of the first name-brand automotive motor oils. The blotter also advertised the Owl Motor Company in Winona, Minnesota. Owl later became Tousley Ford and still exists in Winona as Sugar Loaf Ford. There is some discoloration and slight abrasion on the verso of the card, though it clearly was never used to blot ink. The color advertisement on the recto remains reasonably clean and bright.. Description:
London: Fortescue Mann, 1896. There is some debate over whether the London views by Fortescue Mann were taken by John Fortescue Mann (1848-1897) or by his son Reginald Fortescue Mann (1881-1916). David Simkin (Sussex Photo History) attributes them to the father while Douglas Heil (The Art of Stereography) attributes them to the son. Both acknowledge that the latter would have been quite a prodigy to have created these fine images at the age of 15 in 1896. From the collection of Robert N. Dennis. Provenance: from the collection of Robert N. Dennis, who was one of the most important stereoview collectors in the U. S. The New York Public Library's "Robert N. Dennis Collection" includes more than 70,000 stereoviews from his collection, many of which can be viewed on the library's website. Please note that my scanner does not do well with glass stereoviews. All of the glass views I have listed for this fair have superb images, especially when observed through a stereoscope.. Description:
Dublin: The Cuala Press, 1939. [1939] 46 pages. For all practical purposes, this is the first edition because all except for 4 copies of the first printing were destroyed by Yeats' wife. The book is mostly prose on a variety of topics, but it does include the first published appearance of the one-act play in verse, "Purgatory." The book is clean and attractive in the original blue wraps decorated with a front cover illustration by Jack B. Yeats. One 1 very tiny closed tear at fore-edge of front & back covers; a hint of faint tanning at edges of cover; a single spot of foxing on front cover; a tiny rust spot from a paper clip in inside front cover & half-title page. Better than it sounds, and overall a nice copy of an increasingly scarce book.. Second Edition. Paperback. Collectible-Very Good/No Dust Jacket, as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

Description:
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1950. (14), 239, (3) pages. May 1950 printing of the third book in the "Little House" series, with the date code E-Z on the copyright page--including the rare dust jacket with $2.00 price on the front flap The book is clean and tight in a dust jacket jacket that is in much nicer condition than normally found: with a little chipping at the corners and head and foot of spine. The white background on the jacket is lightly toned, as usual. Strangely, there is no title on the spine of the jacket, but names of author and illustrators are clear, and there is no evidence of sunning. Nicer than it sounds, and an acceptable copy for the collector.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Collectible-Very Good +/Good. Illus. by Helen Sewell And Mildred Boyle. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

Description:
London: William S. Orr & Co., 1848. This is not a complete book--it is a single sheet containing an original antique hand-colored botanical print. Joseph Paxton was perhaps the most significant 19th century English botanist, the designer of the famed Crystal Palace, and the editor of Paxton's Magazine of Botany and Register of Flowering Plants. This print is from the 14th volume of that magazine, published in 1848. Drawn and lithographed by Samuel Holden, it is a superb brilliantly-colored example of the flowers in the magazine. The lithograph is accompanied by the original text pages explaining the origin, cultivation, and uses of the flower. The print is clean and bright, with a hint of toning of the background and the usual stab holes along the binding edge.. First Edition. Paper. Collectible-Fine. Illus. by Samuel Holden. 9" by 6 3/8". Fine Art Print.
