Octavo, 7.1 x 4.6 inches.  Third edition, with sixteen new poems appearing for the first time. A8, a-b8, B-K8, L7, M8. (Complete, collating just as the Grolier copy, with the signature L7.) The engraved portrait frontispiece of Flatman which appears for the first time in this edition is present in this copy. It is bound in period calfskin, with spine repair that is tastefully done. The first few gathers are loose from the book (9 full pages). Book collates and all pages present. Has the bookplate of Edward Parker of Brownsholme in the County of York, along with signatures of other owners. The spine is very neatly and tastefully done, and looks quite well on the shelf. The contents are occasionally lightly browned and spotted, with no extraordinary defects. 44 libraries have copies.

This is an outstanding pencil drawing of a young Fanny Ruschenberger that not only had a fine pen writing hand at the age of 10 but also had the budding artist's eye. The figure of the man, smoking a pipe and looking out at the harbor at the sail boat was her father. The work is simply stunning. Fanny Ruschenberger born May 27, 1844 died March 3, 1883. She wrote six diaries. The manuscript diary of Fanny Ruschenberger 1858-1881 is located at the University of Pennsylvania. Fanny Ruschenberger of Philadelphia was the daughter of a prominent Philadelphia physician, William Samuel Ruschenberger (1807-1895); she was an unmarried sewing teacher. Volume 1 of her diaries is a copybook record of church attendance, family visits and activities, social and cultural events, local and regional trips, and her teaching experience. (1944) Stated First Edition with poetic bookplate of Leo Kelley. 8vo, 350 pp. Numerous illustrations. Illustrator not listed. Snow was an American author and historian. He was the son of Edward Sumpter and Alice (Rowe) Snow. He graduated from Harvard University, and Boston University, with an M.A. Snow married Anna-Myrle Haegg, on July 8, 1932, and they had a daughter Dorothy Caroline. He was a high school teacher in Winthrop, Massachusetts. During World War II, he served with the XII Bomber Command, and he became a first lieutenant. Higden, Ranulphus. (c. 1280 d. 1364) Polycronycon (Polycronicon) Translated into English by John Trevisa) Southwerke: P. Treueris at ye expences of J.Reynes, 16 May, 1527. Early sections badly wormed and somewhat stained, interior sections are bright and book binding is tight. This copy was William Herbert's copy who was the editor of Ames "Typographical Antiquities". The title page is Red and Black, rather flimsy with some loss of paper and tears at the margins. Large woodcut of St. George and neither the crown nor Reynes device untrimmed, cut of St. George repeated on last page, woodcut border to colophon and 11 other woodcuts, one of them full page (slight tear in margin). Woodcut initials throughout. Printed in large gothic letter in two columns, with "William Buttler" written on the first and last leaves, and "Quarles" in the blank compartment of the woodcut on the last page.
