Autograph letter signed " Picasso " to Max Pellequer[Château de] Vauvenargues, " 13.[0]5.[19]59 ", 1 p. in-4°
Picasso writes to his friend and advisor Max Pellequer about a financial project

" Mon cher Max. Picasso "

A banker and shrewd art lover, Max Pellequer amassed a considerable collection of modernist works in the 1920s. In 1920, he married Francine Level, niece of the merchant and businessman André Level. It was through the latter that he met Picasso in 1914. This meeting marked the genesis of an unbreakable friendship between the two men. Pellequer became one of… Read More

Read More

La vérité sinistre ouvre son feu roulant ;
L'histoire montre ton nom noir, plus croulant, plus sanglant.
Plus hideux, plus criblé que le mur de Grenelle ;
Ton empire caverne, ô l'empereur bandit !
Read More

Precious first draft fragment of a poem composed in Prison and attached to "La Parade", unpublished in its manuscript version

Votre houle me gonfle, ô ma caille des bois.
ma caille emmitouflée écrasée sous mes doigts.

Genet's versified work translates into six long pieces collected in a 1948 collection soberly titled Poèmes.
By far the most composite of the poems published in the volume, and the last one that summons the prison universe, "La Parade" (whose title is also that of one of Rimbaud's most enigmatic Illuminations) is composed of eight partially autonomous pieces, almost all of which were probably written in 1943.
This fragment is composed of a rhyming quatrain embraced and a monostic. We immediately… Read More

Read More

Precious and complete set of proofs abundantly corrected by Zola's hand for the original edition of his masterpiece The Beast within

The Beast within in gestation
The folios of this set of proofs evidence on the author's progress in writing his masterpiece. Emile Zola indulged in a meticulous rereading of all the lines, refining the style, redacting and correcting for a greater accuracy of tone and rhythm. Thus, the whole is abundantly annotated, with the exception of folio #35 to #38. The most important corrections can be found on folio #2 to #13 and #40, which correspond to chapters I to IV and XI. Also, Georges Charpentier (his editor) added notes on the twenty-nine folios and two mentions indicating to Zola to henceforth respect the paginated division.
These proofs present an… Read More

ÉLUARD, Paul (1895-1952)
Autograph manuscript signed " Paul Eluard ", destined to Pierre SeghersN.p.n.d [c. May 1943], 6 p. in-8° (including title page)Fine condition
A precious series of poems, including the famous N., written for Poésie 43, then reprinted in the second edition of his world renowned collection Poésie et vérité 1942

This collection, entitled "Three Poems" by Éluard, was intended for Pierre Seghers, director of the journal Poésie. The poet soberly signed the manuscript of his name on the title page: Trois Poèmes. The chronology of the poems in the manuscript is such that it appears in the published collection. The pagination of each leaf, in multicoloured pencil, is also in Éluard's hand.
The manuscript opens with Rêves (pages 1 and 2), the overarching title for the seven short poems it contains, some of which are in the form of a couplet or tercet. The series is dedicated to his friend Louis Aragon. Later that year, five of the seven poems appeared in the expanded edition… Read More
