Description:
Rickford's Hill, Aylesbury: Published by the author, 1917. First edition. 4 9/16 x 7" broadside, letterpress printed on beige paper. The poem is signed E.H.C., Rickford's Hill, Aylesbury - the initials stand Ernst Hartley Coleridge, grandson of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The latin motto had a special significance for the Coleridge family, and was the motto of his cousing John Duke Coleridge, whose letters Ernst Hartley edited - see p. 282 in Life and Correspondence of John Duke Coleridge, 2: Lord Chief Justice of England. Horizontal fold line, with pencilled attribution. Very good. OCLC locates no holdings, though the manuscript of the poem is held at the Ransom Center.
