Rampant Lions Press, 1991 4 catalogues 8vo (21 cm). Printer's wrappers. Founded by Will Carter in 1924, the Rampant Lions Press in Cambridge, England, established itself as one of the leading letterpress workshops in the decades after the Second World War. It was not strictly a private press, but rather a small publisher of fine editions and a printer for other publishers. The press was closed in 2008.

With a foreword by the Director of the Fitzwilliam Museum and an introduction by Brooke Crutchley. The Rampant Lions Press was a fine letterpress printing firm in Britain, operating from 1924 to 2008. The firm was founded by Will Carter (1912–2001), publishing its first book in 1936, and was continued by his son, Sebastian Carter, from 1966.

From the blurb: "When Alexander Pope's "The Rape of the Lock" was published in 1714 its six full-page engraved plates showed that illustrations can elucidate, modify, and supplement text. During later periods, as taste and sensibility changed, the poem's illustrations reflected contemporary attitudes towards Pope's masterpiece. It was often illustrated in th 18th century, by among others Walker, Wale, Stothard, Burney, Hamolton, and above all by Fuseli, who also inspired three of his pupils to emulation. C. r. This was the third great collection in the field of elementary mathematics after dispersed in the 19th century libraries of Guglielmo Libri and Prince Boncompagni. Of the libraries of arithmetics printed before the opening of the 17th century it was the largest that has ever been brought together before the beginning of the 20th century and a fairly complete. This little erudite book by the famous French bookseller and bibliographer Pierre Gustave Brunet is divided into three parts. The first is alphabetically arranged annotated list of private presses (like those of Appian, Hubert Goltzius or Hevelius but although many less known). The second part contains interesting notes on conventional presses arranged according to geographical location. The third part includes comments on books with false or clandestine imprints.
