Washington: Wm. Q. Force] Printed by John Macock, and are to be sold by Luke Fawne, 1646, 1846. Disbound. Octavo. 116pp. from: Tracts and Other Papers, Relating Principally to the Origins, Settlement, and Progress of the Colonies in North America (Volume IV). Gorton was the 5th President of Providence and Warwick of the Rhode Island Colony. His religious views were constantly running up against the prevailing Puritan views for which he saw no end of trouble. This tract outlines his unjust trial and imprisonment by the Massachusetts Bay Colony. An interesting piece of colonial Americana. The pamphlet has been stitched into new laid paper covers; the paper is in nice shape, still quite supple with just a bit of toning; additional images available upon request.
