Original decorative wrappers, 7.5 x 10.75 inches. A very well preserved copy of this photographic record of the destruction of San Francisco. Photographs were taken on April 21, 3 days after the earthquake by Burt Hodson and F. M. Walsh.

Original orange morocco and grass-green boards, spine stamped in gilt; octavo; (363) pp. Signed on the limitation page by Edwin Grabhorn, Valenti Angelo, and Robert Grabhorn. Signatures are in green ink which is quite faint but legible.

Edges of covers worn, text somewhat tanned and fairly grubby with a few small stains, offsetting from plates, overall near very good. 83 pp., 4 tipped-in illustrations from photographs; small octavo (8 x 5.5 inches), black cloth spine and decorative boards (no cover title), paste-paper endpapers. Originally published in 1897 this explicitly erotic tale of sexual initiation is told in the form of "A Series of [6] Letters from Blanche, Aged Seventeen, Who Has Just Been Sent to a Paris Finishing School, to Her Cousin Ethel, in England, With Whom She Had Formerly Been at School." The illustrations in this edition are reproductions from photographs of 2 young ladies engaged in explicit sexual activities. This edition not found on OCLC/Worldcat, not in Kearney Private Case (or Supplement), not in Mendes. Scarce.

Full color cover illustration by Charles Dana Gibson. London's story is illustrated with 4 full-page monochrome illustrations and 2 text illustrations by Anton Otto Fischer. The serialized version of "The Mutiny of the Elsinore" ran from Nov. 1913 to August 1914. The complete book was published in September, 1914. Walker & Sisson #30 (bold); Woodbridge #125.
