Faber & Faber Limited. London: George Routledge (1924). A first UK edition. 8vo., original brown cloth boards, gilt lettering to the spine, with the original dust jacket; pp. [xxxi] 223; A very good or better copy. The jacket hasn't been price clipped and has very little if any loss. The top of the spine has some minor wear and rubbing. The spine has browned. The upper text block has foxing marks and so does the first four or five preliminary pages. An excellent copy and scarce. Boris Pilniak's (Pilnyak) first book to be published in the English language. It is a collection of his earliest writing. This book was published only two years after his first novel was written in Russia, the censored 'The Naked Year' about the Russian Civil War. This would be a continued theme in the 1920's, with many of Pilniak's works being censored or causing a scandal in Russia. It would not end well for Pilniak as he was falsely accused of… Read More

Description:
London: Stanley Paul. First UK edition published by Stanley Paul in 1952. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper is pretty much complete. There is a tear to the top left hand corner of the front panel. The spine has faded by a shade or two. The back panel is marked. There is minor wear along the edges and corners. It is an extremely fragile wrapper and this is one of the better examples we have handled. The book is in very presentable condition. There is no previous owner's ink. The is some foxing marks to the first few pages and to the text block. Overall a very good copy. This copy is very rare as it has the signature of Alf Ramsey on the front free end paper. The autobiography of England great Alf Ramsey where he discusses his playing days for Spurs and England. He would of course go on to reach sporting immortality by managing England to its world cup victory in 1966. A very rare book to find signed.  . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1952.

London: Secker & Warburg. FIRST UK EDITION. The book has mild pushing to spine tips and a small single penned name to upper front paste down. Bright crimson unfaded top stain. The wrapper has a little soiling to the rear cover with a very small chip to upper edge of rear cover. Light browning to spine. Overall a near fine copy.
