Binding sound. The dust jacket states 900 pages, 7 maps..which is not the case for this volume. Possibly the publisher did not update the dust jacket. The price is stated as "$3.50 in American Money"

Rubbing to leather extremities, but very solidly bound. A couple of creased page corners. Heavy foxing, some toning. Text is unmarked. The second half of an epic poem comprising Books VI through II, loosely based on Islamic mythology but actually occurring much earlier, in Babylonian times. The poem involves a group of sorcerors who set out to destroy a certain family, to prevent a prophecy of their future doom from coming true. A young child of the hunted family manages to escape and after being pursued by the sorcerer, gains possession of a powerful ring, and with it, eventually is able to defeat the evil sorcerors.

Mayo was a actress, playwright and screenwriter and with her husband helped co-found Goldwyn Pictures and her play Polly of the Circus became the first film produced by the Goldwyn Company in 1917. This is her account of entertaining the troops in World War 1. Despite enormous success early on, she became interested in spiritualism and distanced herself from the entertainment industry. An unusual addition to a WW1 collection.
