Like a muzzle brake, a silencer can be a detachable accessory mounted separately onto the muzzle, or an integral part of the barrel. EB; 327 pages .

EB. Very Good. Hardcover. Hardcover. 8vo. B. F. Johnson, Richmond, VA, 1899. 245 pgs. Illustrated with black and white plates. Text in dialect. First Edition/First Printing. Bound in decorated blue cloth with titles and designs in black and gilt. Boards have wear present to the extremities of the boards. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. A fascinating book with an account of the period following the Rebellion and moving on to Uncle Isaac with a narrative chapter and a narrative poem using black dialect. It seems that this is a fond recall of the author's recent memory in the transition from slavery to independence. While there are elements that some might see as racism, the admiration he has for Uncle Isaac provides a snapshot of the South's dilemma before the beginning of the Twentieth Century. This collection of thirteen short stories, beautifully crafted in a style influenced by French surrealism, but uniquely Nin’s, brought her national attention when Edmund Wilson of The New Yorker reviewed it. Considered one of Nin’s most successful works of fiction, the tales attain psychological realism through illusory symbolism. Among the titles are “Houseboat, ” “The Mouse, ” “Ragtime, ” “The Labyrinth,… Read more

Eric Patton DJ has shelf-wear, rubbing present to the DJ especially around the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid, boards clean with no wear present. 'Heinrich Böll's new novel is a sensitive, moving story of people permanently displaced, strangers in their homeland. Through the eyes of two war orphans, for whom the war continues after the guns are stilled, we see their search for some human core in the disorder and confusion of their lives. For Martin born in 1942 and fatherless since 1944, it was a world in which there were no rules. For Heinrich it was a world in which a succession of 'uncles' shared his mother's room; one in which the black market was the school that sharpened his wits. The boys' floundering… Read more

DJ has light shelf-wear present to the DJ. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid, boards have light wear present. Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Stills, a series of 69 black-and-white photographs created between 1977 and 1980, is widely seen as one of the most original and influential achievements in recent art. Witty, provocative and searching, this lively catalogue of female roles inspired by the movies crystallizes widespread concerns in our culture, examining the ways we shape our personal identities and the role of the mass media in our lives. Sherman began making these pictures in 1977 when she was 23 years old. The first six were an experiment: fan-magazine glimpses into the life (or roles) of an imaginary blond actress, played by Sherman herself. E-101; 4to 11"… Read more
