Description:
London: Macdonald & Co., 1968. FIRST UK EDITION. 8vo. Blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Light bruising to spine ends. A few spots, else, clean, tight and bright. In Michael Heawood's naive dust jacket: wear, creasing and nicking to top edges, fox-mottled and spotted, staining to heal of spine and bottom edges of both panels, but this doesn't detract from the cover art. A very good/ good+ copy of Mrozek's second short story collection to be published in the UK. Translated from the Polish by Konrad Syrop.

Paris: Presses de la Cit, 1956. Good. In French. Trade paperback, appears to be issued the same year as the limited edition (of 100), pp. [192]. Purple illustrated wrappers. Spine sunned. Creased and significantly rubbed. Tanned, a few marks to the copyright page, ink spot to p. 131, a few dog-eared pages. Else, clean and tidy. During the 1950s (?) and '60s, Presses de la Cit issued Simenon's trade titles with the same wraparound illustration of Maigret in silhouette, smoking his pipe, set against a variety of background colours. Good+.
