Jóse de Jesús Dávila y Prieto Jóse Maria Martinez were Congressional representatives for Nuevo Leon in 1845. Here are printed a series of letters they wrote regarding their inability to travel to attend the 1845 session of Congress without payment of their travel expenses as they were promised. Reflective of the turmoil in Mexico during this period immediately prior to the start of Mexican War. Prieto was later named the first Mayor of Monterrey and in 1847 published a book on astronomy.

No copies on OCLC (Yale has a copy of an April 28, 1839 broadside denying charges of treason from General Pedro Ampudia). General Pedro Lemus was an important general and member of the new government junta in Saltillo, immediately after Mexican independence was declared. During the war with Texas, he served as Commandant General and Inspector of the Eastern Interior Provinces. Lemus later joined the Canales cause at Matamoros in October 1838, rebelling against ValentĂn Canalizo and MartĂn Perfecto de Cos. Together Canales and Lemus laid siege to Matamoros.
