WGN (The Chicago Tribune), 1934. Pictorial boards. Near Fine. Uncommon 1934 announcement --in book form-- of the upcoming "WGN Broadcasting Auditorium Competition". (The opening paragraph: "WGN, the Chicago Tribune radio station, proposes to erect on the property at Michigan Avenue and Illinois Street, adjoining Tribune Tower, a building which will house its broadcasting studios. The building when completed will contain a large broadcasting studio to which the public will be admitted. This large studio should therefore fulfill the requirements for a public auditorium."). Clean and very sharp in its dark pictorial boards, with bright gilt-titling along the front panel. Thin quarto, floor plans in addition to text. Also includes the fragile, dark cardboard "WGN Broadcasting Auditorium Competition" shipping carton, which shows just a bit of wear and offsetting along the edges.

The 1935 1st edition, wonderfully illustrated in color and rich black-and-white by the author Marjorie Flack and Richard A. Holberg. Solid and VG (light wear to the lower-tips, light soiling at the rear panel) in a bright, price-clipped, VG- dustjacket, with several small closed tears --and light chipping and creasing-- along the panel edges. Oblong octavo, charming story of a circus parade coming thru town.

Lovely 1982 1st thus, printed by Thomas Rae at the Black Pennell Press of Greenock, Scotland and limited to 250 copies. Bright and Fine in its gray wrappers. 7 pgs. plus a fold-out photo-litho reproduction at rear. Also includes publisher's matching gray chemise.

A crisp, lovely copy to boot of the 1954 iconic Grove Press edition, not only the 1st American edition but also the first edition to appear in hardback AND the 1st English language edition (which Beckett himself translated from his native French). Clean and Near Fine to Fine in a beautiful, price-intact ($4.75), Near Fine dustjacket. Indisputably one of the three or four most celebrated plays of the 20th century, a remarkable triumph of existentialist theatre and the highwater mark of even as exalted a literary career as the Nobelist Samuel Beckett's (1906-1989). Very elusive in such lovely condition and signed by the author.

A glimpse into the latter 20th century world of Islamic decoration and sculpture.

A presentable copy to boot of the 1934 1st edition, privately printed for Hotel Waldorf-Astoria Corporation. Solid and VG in its light-brown boards, with just a touch of mild spotting along the boards and light offsetting at the foot of the spine. Very light wear as well at the spine ends. Octavo, deckled fore and bottom-edges. Generous black-and-white illustrations complementing Henry Lent's text.

Tight and Near Fine in a bright, Near Fine pictorial dustjacket, with just a touch of very light creasing along the edges. (Also includes a very presentable example of the publisher's glassine outer dustjacket, which shows just a bit of light chipping but is clean and all-but-complete). Octavo, also includes the untitled 45 rpm record (and its sleeve) tucked in along the rear pastedown.

Wonderful 1928 Wallace Nutting furniture catalogue, with hundreds of crisp, black-and-white photos of the offerings of the day. A VG- copy in its orignal wraps. Light soiling and staining to the panels, light fraying along the stapled spine and small former owner signature at top of front panel. General wear to this fragile item but still tight and presentable. Tall octavo, 80 pgs.

Montgomery Ward & Co., Inc, 1949. Original wraps. Near Fine. A gorgeous copy of this post-War celebration of color, in this lavish 1949 Montgomery Ward catalog showcasing a dazzling array of wallpaper patterns and colors. The supply of "dyes, inks and paper stock" which were in short supply during the war were back in abundance by the late 40s and are here on full display. On each recto a wallpaper sample (almost all in vibrant hues), on each facing verso a precise desciption of the sample. The catalog has held up very nicely to boot and is crisp, well-preserved and Near Fine in its decorative wrappers. Just a touch of very faint wear along the spine ends and one microscopic chip (the size of a grain of sand) at the front panel's lower-tip. Internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings of any kind. Octavo, 77 separate samples. Very attractive and presentable, one of the great post-War catalogues in the decorative arts.

The 1959 1st edition of this "collection of documents relating to Ireland in the years 1578 and 1579". Solid and VG in its wine-red cloth, with bright-gilt lettering along the spine. Very light spotting to the panels, otherwise clean as could be. Octavo, 279 pgs.

Walt Disney Productions, 1941. Original Wraps. Collectible; Very Good. A clean, crisp copy of the 1941 1st thus. VG+ in its stapled pictorial wrappers. Oblong quarto, nice sprinkiling of color illustratons thruout.

A very solid copy to boot: Tight and Near Fine in its red cloth, with bright, unrubbed gilt-titling along the spine. And in a crisp, price-intact, VG+ dustjacket, with just a touch of light soiling to the rear panel and a light tape ghost along the spine crown (where the jacket has been neatly --and inconspicuously-- reinforced internally by a small piece of tape). Octavo, a generous number of black-and-white photos supplementing the text.

WARMLY INSCRIBED BY WALTER GROPIUS AT HARVARD IN 1955 TO RENOWNED BOSTON ARCHITECT PAUL GRAYSON, A STUDENT OF GROPIUS'S AT HARVARD'S GRADUATE SCHOOL OF DESIGN (WHERE GROPIUS HAD CHAIRED THE ARCHITECTURE DEPARTMENT). A sharp, very well-preserved copy to boot of the 1954 1st American edition. Tight and VG+ (1955 Harvard bookplate of Paul Grayson affixed to the front pastedown, a bit of abrading just above it) in a crisp, Near Fine dustjacket, with just a touch of wear to the front flap-fold and very light soiling along the rear panel. Quarto, the wonderful dustjacket design by Herbert Bayer.
